To understand what is at stake in Brazil: ⬅️ 19 Oct: Visiting Pará state, Flávio Bolsonaro promises to end “environmental obstacles” and says producers can do “whatever they want” ➡️ 21 Oct: Pará has Brazil’s most fire hotspots in 2026, with 571 in the last 48h, @inpe_mcti says
Finally some global engagement with Brazilian politics. Again guys it’s only the place that is deciding how much oxygen the planet will produce for the next 4-8 years, no biggy

Pitch: "AI will cure cancer" Reality: AI killed the Internet
Whats happening right now is probably way worse than the Hugging Face incident. AI-powered attacks are hitting real organizations while major platforms disclose breaches and critical flaws. - Microsoft reports AI agents targeting hundreds of organizations, reaching privileged cloud access in under three hours in multiple cases. It attributes the ConnectWise compromise to the same group. - CrowdStrike documented four operators running successful AI-agent campaigns. One compromised at least 15 Argentine healthcare organizations. - PHP2Shell: AI helped turn longstanding PHP flaws into working exploits. Cloudflare’s CEO reports millions of exploitation attempts. Their AI involvement is unknown. - Railway disclosed possible access to customer secrets. LiteLLM shipped a backdoored release. Zeabur confirmed another breach and is shutting down. - GitLab patched a maximum-severity flaw affecting 12 years of releases. Node.js patched a serious code-execution vulnerability, with Vercel deploying firewall protections. Feels like a turningpoint.

Jews are not responsible for Israel's actions, Hen.
Instead of saying “Jews control the economy,” now they say, “Israel is why oil prices are high.” It’s the same bigotry, just a modern mutation.

This was not about harvesting olives. It was about harvesting headlines. Brad Lander’s latest stunt is nothing more than a calculated political provocation. Lander traveled to a foreign country, deliberately entered a restricted security area, and participated in an unauthorized activity without the required coordination. What makes this stunt even more outrageous is that his own team contacted Israeli representatives in the United States ahead of his visit and was explicitly informed that proper coordination with the relevant authorities was required. He chose to ignore those instructions. At a time of heightened security tensions, Israeli security forces have a responsibility to protect lives, prevent dangerous incidents, and maintain public order. Had anyone been injured as a result of his reckless political theater, Lander would undoubtedly have been among the first to demand that Israeli authorities intervene and provide protection. Brad Lander came looking for a confrontation. Now he is pretending to be its victim.

This is crazy
Last month, we demonstrated high-rate alchemy: turning mercury into real, stable gold, beating CERN’s record by a factor of 10. Last week, we enriched isotopes in the world’s most powerful plasma centrifuge, beating the Soviet record that stood for 40 years. Now, we’re building a fusion reactor in San Francisco to achieve record power density.

“Uncoordinated olive harvest” in *his* land. Get out of the West Bank.
Earlier today, a number of harvesters, accompanied by dozens of individuals, arrived to conduct an uncoordinated olive harvest in an area near Beitar Illit. Harvesting in this area requires a request to be submitted to the relevant authorities in advance of the start of the olive harvest season. This coordination is necessary to ensure the security of the area and maintain public order. Due to the security risk posed by conducting an uncoordinated harvest near an Israeli community, IDF soldiers, Border Police forces in Judea and Samaria, and officers from the Judea and Samaria District Police arrived at the scene and detained those present. The landowner was informed that he must coordinate the olive harvest on his plot of land and was provided with the relevant contact information to arrange a harvest at a later date. It should be emphasized that authorized olive harvests have taken place and continue to take place. To date, approximately 100 coordinated harvests have been conducted across Judea and Samaria, yielding many dozens of tons of produce, with security provided and coordination by the security forces, without any unusual incidents. In areas designated for coordinated harvesting, only harvesters will be permitted to enter, solely for the purpose of harvesting. As in previous years, security forces are working to facilitate a safe and orderly olive harvest season, with a firm commitment to enabling harvesting without unusual incidents or interruptions, alongside their ongoing defensive and counterterrorism missions.

“Every single house was rigged with booby traps and had to be destroyed” Meanwhile, the genocidal army:
Israeli soldiers in Southern Lebanon are seen ‘jokingly’ giving a tour of a displaced family’s home while rigging it with explosives. More than 1.2 million people have been forcibly displaced as a result of Israel’s attacks and reinvasion of Southern Lebanon.

Sunday’s election will determine the fate of Brazilian democracy, the fate of Latin American sovereignty, and the survival of the Amazon rainforest — which is to say, that of all humanity. In a sane world, Trump's (and Zuckerberg’s) escalating efforts to bring Bolsonaro back to power would be front-page news, but alas… we are not so lucky to live there. Instead, we live in a world where Lula and Bolsonaro are neck-and-neck ahead of Sunday’s run-off. progressive.international/wi…

One month ago, I sat down with President Lula to discuss how government serving poor and working people. Weeks later, Brazil took a historic step: a 40-hour workweek, at least two days off and no cuts to pay for more than 30 million workers. Workers fought for decades to win the five-day workweek in America. Brazilian workers have fought for this victory, too. I congratulate them on this achievement. Working people deserve time to live, not just work. Building a better future means giving people more of their lives back. And we’ll keep fighting for it.

Who ever said it was just about Netanyahu though
Reminder that it was never really about Netanyahu—the anti-Israel push won’t end even if he’s voted out. This is Abdul El-Sayed promising to rail against the Jewish state no matter what.

Lula opened access to all his finances, phone records, etc and challenged Bolsonaro to do the same. Obviously he didn’t. Most likely bc of the credible links to death squads and organized crime reported by media

In 2002, Brazil had a higher Human Development Index than China, Turkey, Thailand, Peru, Colombia and five other countries shown here. By 2023, all had overtaken Brazil. The world has been moving faster.
