A 25-year-old Islamist has been arrested in Le Creusot, eastern France, after decapitating and destroying a 1.5-meter-tall statue of Saint Joseph inside the historic Saint-Henri Catholic Church.
He then picked up the severed head and displayed it on a church bench before leaving the building.
Outside, he began harassing several people, including young people who alerted the police.
Officers arrested the suspect and ordered his transfer to a specialized psychiatric hospital.
