The Maldives’ financial system has never been managed as effectively as it should have been, and some of the challenges we face today are linked to how investment and foreign-currency inflows have been managed.
For the future, I believe we should fast track to move towards an MVR-based domestic economy. Foreign investors should have clear guarantees that legitimate dividends, international loan repayments and approved imports can access the required foreign currency through the central banking system. I believe during years back they tried to go with opposed of big investment player that time rejected.
This would allow more foreign-currency inflows to enter the formal financial system, strengthen the Rufiyaa and create a more stable and transparent economy for both local businesses and foreign investors.

While ordinary Maldivians, the taxpayers, rely on Aasandha and NSPA, MPs use taxpayers money to receive unlimited medical insurance for themselves and their families across the ASEAN region. Medical benefits and allowances are also extended to former MPs.
We should change this, and we will…!!!
Members of Parliament should receive the same Aasandha and NSPA coverage available to every other Maldivian.
If it is good enough for the people who pay the taxes, it should be good enough for the people elected to represent them.

Many Addu people were polishing British army’s boots for a few shillings, as far as I’m concerned. The British established facilities for their own good, not ours. They built assets to serve their own interests. RAF Gan was a strategic military base built for Britain’s own defence needs in the Indian Ocean, not out of any concern for Addu’s development. Whatever wages and jobs came with it were incidental. Real development is what a people build for themselves, on their own terms.
