The world's moved on from greyhound racing. Scotland and Wales have passed bans - it's time England followed suit. Dogs with lives scarred by isolation, cruelty, injury and all too often an early grave. 100 years on it's time to call the last lap on this animal cruelty.

Over the past 10 years 30+ horses have died being raced at #CheltenhamFestival. AWP calls for an end to the commercial racing of horses & dogs, believing that the cruelty, injury & death involved has no place in a modern, functioning society. #cheltenhamfestival2026 #hansard

What’s happened to this dog? Dance Patricia hasn’t run on a GBGB track since she was trialled, in March 2025. Only 4 runs too. Trainer/owner C Smith. Has she been homed? Sold abroad? Dead? #AnimalAbuse @lisanandy @GreyhoundBoard #Transparency

@rickygervais Please share. We need over 40.000 people to sign the petition before the 30th. Can we do that? If we don’t these poor greyhounds will continue to suffer.
Urgent: Sign the petition to End Greyhound Racing in the UK! This is the best way to permanentlyĀ protect dogs from the racing industry, who can end up shot or even drowned when no longer profitable.Ā We've just a fewĀ days left to reach 100k signatures – please stand up for dogs and share the petition. Please sign and share Animal Aid's petition to end greyhound racing in the UK today - just two weeks left to reach 100k signatures!Ā Ā [petition.parliament.uk/petit…] Between 2017-2023 over 4000 greyhounds were killed at the hands of the UK racing industry, due to ā€˜accidents’ on the track orĀ when they stop being ā€˜profitable’. Some dogs are even drugged with cocaine and similar substancesĀ to enhance performance. Rescue centres are overwhelmed with dogs who were raced, now in need of a home. Those who are less fortunate may be shot or even drowned.Ā  One minute of your time can make all the difference to these dogs.Ā Thank you for your support.

Better late than never! It took more than forty years to stop something everyone already knew was wrong. In South Korea, ear bile farming was once legal, regulated, and quietly accepted. For decades, Asiatic Black Bears were confined in captivity so their bile could be harvested for use in traditional medicine. The practice began in the early 1980s, at a time when alternatives were limited and regulation focused more on supply than suffering. Over time, public awareness changed. Investigations by animal welfare groups documented long-term confinement, steel cages, and Bears kept alive for years for repeated extraction. At the same time, medicine moved forward. Synthetic versions of the key bile compound were already widely used in hospitals, reducing any real medical justification for keeping the industry alive. The turning point came in January 2024, when South Korea passed legislation banning the breeding of bears for bile, the extraction process itself, and the slaughter of Bears for this purpose. The law set a firm deadline. By January 2026, all remaining bile farms must close. The government also committed funds to compensate farmers and relocate surviving Bears to sanctuaries. This wasn’t a sudden moral reversal. It was a delayed acknowledgment that the system had outlived its purpose. The law did not erase the past, but it prevented its continuation. In a region where similar practices still exist, South Korea’s decision carries weight. It shows that traditions can end without culture collapsing, and that progress sometimes arrives quietly, but permanently. Sometimes the most meaningful change is simply deciding not to continue. #animalwelfare #southkorea #conservation #ethicalchange #bearbile #blackbears
