One of the best
Given Lance Armstrong is trending, it’s probably worth reminding people of this splendid bit of Australian humour.

This is SO SHAMEFUL. The UK has 2.4 beds per 1000 and yet the NHS still manages to deliver superlative care, at least in emergencies. But we could all be treated more quickly with more funding. Back to work more quickly, if that's your priority.
The number of hospital beds per thousand people according to the most recent figures: 🇰🇷 Korea = 12.6 🇯🇵 Japan = 12.5 🇧🇬 Bulgaria = 8.6 🇩🇪 Germany = 7.7 🇷🇴 Romania = 7.3 🇦🇹 Austria = 6.6 🇭🇺 Hungary = 6.5 🇨🇿 Czechia = 6.4 🇵🇱 Poland = 6.3 🇸🇰 Slovak Republic = 5.7 🇭🇷 Croatia = 5.7 🇱🇹 Lithuania = 5.5 🇫🇷 France = 5.5 🇧🇪 Belgium = 5.4 🇨🇳 China = 5.2 🇱🇻 Latvia = 5.0 🇨🇭 Switzerland = 4.4 🇬🇷 Greece = 4.2 🇪🇪 Estonia = 4.1 🇸🇮 Slovenia = 4.1 🇱🇺 Luxembourg = 3.9 🇦🇺 Australia = 3.8 🇵🇹 Portugal = 3.4 🇳🇴 Norway = 3.3 🇦🇷 Argentina = 3.3 🇹🇷 Türkiye = 3.1 🇮🇹 Italy = 3.0 🇮🇱 Israel = 3.0 🇮🇪 Ireland = 2.9 🇪🇸 Spain = 2.9 🇺🇸 United States = 2.8 🇫🇮 Finland = 2.6 🇮🇸 Iceland = 2.6 🇨🇦 Canada = 2.5 🇳🇿 New Zealand = 2.5 🇧🇷 Brazil = 2.5 United Kingdom…

"Whataboutery" is where you cover-up someone's wrongdoing by pointing to someone else's. It's a dishonest tactic that seeks to lower people's moral expectations of politicians by pretending it's OK to do bad things because they all do. But comparing the wrong-doing of politicians CAN be a useful tool to determine whether those wrongdoings were motivated by bad intentions, and whether that person can still be trusted. So let me say this clearly. Zack Polanski fucked up. He co-signed an Instagram post without checking each of the 20 photos it contained, and one of them turned out to be a photo of someone calling for Farage's execution. Once he found out, he withdrew his collaboration from the post. By Contrast: Farage platformed Lucy Connolly BECAUSE she called for refugees, hotel staff & Labour politicians to be burned alive. Zack corrected an irresponsible act. Farage made a deliberate one. Any rational person can see which one of them ACTUALLY supports the incitement of violence, and which one of them needs to take more care on social media.

There are still people who get excited to show you a cool rock they found, a strangely shaped cloud, a tiny frog, a pretty leaf, or a sky full of stars. That’s the kind of energy I want around me for the rest of my life.

I have the last 2 proofs of 'My Name is MacKenzie Bly', which I wrote because I have always loved and cherished books that make me laugh, and I wanted to write something purely funny. I *think* it's for everyone over 11. It's out in August. RT by end of tomorrow to win a copy.

I know there is a lot of news around but can someone at the Beeb explain to me how a man they keep telling us might be the next PM getting an undisclosed donation of FIVE MILLION POUNDS from a Thai based crypto dealer (with a BS explanation about it being for lifelong security) is not even a news story when the man he wants to replace led the news for days over some glasses and Arsenal tickets?

It feels a bit wrong selling Red Nose Day noses on Amazon when we probably wouldn't need Red Nose Day if those fuckers paid their proper tax.

Women are out here sharing live locations, checking the backseats of cars, and holding their hands over their drinks. Men are doing 3 hour podcasts about how unfair it is that we don't smile at them. The disconnect is fatal.

it’s crazy that 95% of people just want a nice normal life on our beautiful, already abundant planet where they can have their basic needs met and cute experiences with their loved ones and then we have these 5% of evil, narcissistic goons at the top fucking it up for all of us

Many writers ask me where they can submit their work. I have compiled a list of magazines you can submit to and what they pay. Please retweet so it can reach more writers who need this. 1. Propel magazine £20 2. Spectrum literary journal $25-100 3. The Southern Review $25-$300

Follow this series - it's full of wonderfully awful little gems. Many thanks, Lissa
Here we go! #LiteraryAdventCalendar Day 1, and it's one of my all-time favourites: journalist Lynn Barber attempts to interview Margaret, Duchess of Argyll, (ultra posh, with a scandalous past) about her book on dinner parties.

This poem was written in Afghanistan by a woman who is now too scared to share her name because that might reveal she is secretly studying. She can read your appreciation though and it means a lot.

Unbelievable how many watched Riot Women and all they can comment on is a trans woman - not a nod to wokery, she's been acting for years. All the other issues count as nothing. You want to check yourselves out - obssessed with something that doesn't affect you at all.

It's funny, for years there's been govt campaigns telling us to open up about our mental health. As a result more people seek help, with some needing financial support. Now though, the 'success' of those campaigns have resulted in politicians calling for help & support to be cut.
