How can you feel OK paying a Mexican woman to be pregnant, get a C-section and express milk for a baby she doesn’t get to keep? How is this being presented as socially acceptable? thetimes.com/article/4e09e57…
This is so utterly depressing
Landsec has pulled out of its £1.5bn investment in Lewisham shopping centre, citing Mayor @LiamShrivastava's Green administration's lack of support.
300+ affordable homes, jobs, a park and a music venue: gone.
Our Group Leader @Ese_Journo has written to the Mayor 👇

I would like to thank all those who have prayed for me in recent days. I wish to express my particular gratitude to the doctors, nurses and all the staff of the Gemelli Hospital. This experience has made me feel particularly close to all those who are living with illness or infirmity. Now that I have overcome this delicate phase I will gradually resume my activities, always with God’s help and your prayers.

What a dreadful response from an elected Mayor
I have responded to @lewishamlabour, @vickyfoxcroft, @Ese_Journo, @elliereeves and @JanetDaby regarding the green party's Zionism is Racism motion

The death penalty is inadmissible because it is an attack on the inviolability and dignity of the person. The common good can be safeguarded and the requirements of justice can be met without recourse to capital punishment: effective systems of detention have been developed that protect citizens while at the same time do not completely deprive those who are guilty of the possibility of redemption. #NoDeathPenalty

Every human being is a child of God. Every human being is born with dignity. Pete Hegseth’s plan to execute a man by firing squad and broadcast the unspeakable brutality degrades us all.

I would like to hear our Catholic Vice President explain why they're intentionally choosing to broadcast the death of a human being for the entire world to see, including children.

Three years on from the October 7 attacks on Israel, we remember those who were senselessly killed by Hamas terrorists.
The impact of the attacks has been felt not just in Israel, but in Jewish communities across the world who still bear the burden of the tragic events that day.
In the years since, we have seen a disturbing rise in antisemitic behaviour in the UK.
A year ago we witnessed a horrifying terrorist attack on the Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation in Manchester, with further attacks against Jewish people and institutions since.
I want Britain’s Jewish community to hear this from me directly. We stand with you. Abuse and violence against you, in any form, will not be tolerated. Not on our streets, not online, not in our schools or universities.
That’s why we are funding protection for synagogues, schools and community buildings, and why we will come down hard on antisemitism wherever it is found - in classrooms, on campuses and in neighbourhoods.
At home, we are committed to protecting our citizens from vile hatred. Abroad, we continue to work towards a two-state solution, with Israelis and Palestinians living side by side in peace and security.
An attack on Jewish people in Britain is an attack on all of us. Antisemitism has no place in this country, and we will do everything we can to stamp it out.

It's been so heartening to see the Green Party's betting odds in Holborn & St Pancras go into meltdown following their disastrous conference. I hope they lose. I hope they lose big. And I hope it hurts.

I wish my local Green/LibDem council was just issuing statements on housing or bins. Not having to reassure frightened Jewish residents.

Being a member of virtually any synagogue in the UK as a Jew is now racist behaviour according to Green Party policy.
This is horrifying and must be condemned across politics.

Asking Jews to pass a purity test and renounce self-determination according to a perverse interpretation arbitrarily applied, isn't just an extreme position, it’s a racist one.
That’s before we consider the Green party is now backing violent dismantling of Israel.
Anna Yearley Carreira retweeted
You cannot say you will never tolerate any form of discrimination or harassment whilst standing on a platform that uniquely requires Jews to forfeit self determination or pass a purity test in order to be considered not racist.
Replying to @PippaCrerar
The Green party’s five MPs issue a statement saying: “We will always uphold universal human rights. We will never tolerate any form of discrimination or harassment.
"We will continue to stand in opposition to genocide, ethnic cleansing, apartheid and the illegal occupation.
"We will continue to call out the heinous crimes of the Netanyahu government. And we will continue to work to ensure that the Green party is an anti-racist party in every way.
"We know there is no conflict between supporting the rights of Palestinians and the rights of Jewish people."

I am pleased to see Jagtar Singh Johal has been released on bail from prison in India.
Jagtar is a British national who, for almost nine years, has been arbitrarily detained in India. He has suffered torture at the hands of the police there.
This is an important moment. However, more now needs to be done. The UK Government must do everything in its power to bring him home.
