Words of wisdom from Nancie Atwell in The Reading Zone we continue to ignore "Starting in kindergarten and going straight through until the end of the high school, free choice of books should be a young reader's right, not a privilege granted by a kind teacher."

I’m so interested in your work with this. Sounds promising!
Excited to be experimenting with digitizing letter-essays using podcasts, WeVideo, Sway, and PowerPoint. Also exploring multimodal options: links, videos, read alouds, etc. Canvas discussion boards will be a great way to publish. @NancieAtwell @AnneAtwellM @CanvasLMS @Microsoft

Congrats to the World Champion @Nationals and their fans! A great group that always showed up when it counted and was never afraid to show a little joy: dancing in the dugout, laughing, believing, and always sticking together. A true team with a spirit that’d do us all well.

Can’t wait to tell this little guy about how the @Nationals were able to #STAYINTHEFIGHT and win the World Series. Like, weekly. Maybe daily!

It's not too late to apply to spend a week seeing writing and reading workshops in action at the Center for Teaching and Learning in Edgecomb, Maine! Visit c-t-l.org/internships to apply.
This week I observed students in the reading zone, have rich discussion about books, craft and edit writing, analyze poetry, and cultivate a community of teaching and learning. Empowering students and inspiring educators, thank you CTL! @NancieAtwell @AnneAtwellM @Glenn?
