Unpopular opinion: I genuinely think making Bryan completely unprepared for the chaos of Raccoon City was one of the best creative decisions in the new Resident Evil movie.
He isn’t Leon, Chris, or some highly trained survival expert. He’s just an ordinary guy who suddenly finds himself trapped in a zombie outbreak with virtually no combat experience. His panic, terrible aim, questionable decisions, and constant struggle to survive actually make sense when you consider who he is.
I understand why some viewers might find him frustrating, especially when we’re so accustomed to Resident Evil protagonists who can handle almost anything thrown at them. But that’s precisely what makes Bryan different. Instead of watching another badass effortlessly take down zombies, we’re watching an average person slowly realize the nightmare he’s been dragged into.
And honestly, that change in perspective is what made the movie feel refreshing compared to the usual Resident Evil formula. Not every protagonist needs to be a trained killing machine to make a compelling survival story.

You’ve made a follow up about me, but I still can’t reply directly. That’s petty, but I’ll respond here.
I’ve never been in the camp asking for a 1:1 adaptation. I’ve repeatedly said I’d like new characters and a new story set within Resident Evil’s timeline and lore. You’re putting words in my mouth.
As for the “sweet, sweet YouTube money,” yes, this is now my full time job. For years, I did this as a hobby because I love Resident Evil. I’m grateful I can now do it for a living. That doesn’t mean every video I make is motivated by money. A fan game based on a movie I enjoyed seems cool to me regardless of profits.
That’s the point of ROE. Bringing fans together. Fans of the classic games, new games, movies, whatever. We don’t have to agree on everything. We’re all here because we like Resident Evil.
Stop trying to pick camps and pit fans against each other.

I love Zach Cregger but Resident Evil is as big as it’s ever been and fans want a film adaptation to be faithful to the games that they love.
Remove two lines of dialogue and you would’ve never guessed that his movie had anything to do with Resident Evil.
There have been now eight movies and one tv show that have either blatantly disrespected the source material or weren’t given the proper resources to actually succeed.
Fans have every right to be frustrated at this point because adapting Resident Evil properly shouldn’t be this hard.
Sorry but that’s just how it is 🤷
Zach Cregger says he was frustrated that the conversation surrounding his ‘RESIDENT EVIL’ film had nothing to do with the film.
“It had to do with whether the movie was living up to the different standards that different fans of the games had… it was just a lot about ‘why isn’t this like the source material?’ OR ‘why is it good that it’s not like the source material?’

IGN... That's not what Jun Takeuchi said... He said they had formed a 10-year plan for Resident Evil for the next decade, they had an on-going story in-between titles (both new games & remakes) which THAT STORY would be concluded in the next 10 years, not the whole series.
Resident Evil executive producer Jun Takeuchi has revealed that the series' narrative has a definite conclusion, and that end could come "in the next 10 years." bit.ly/3WAd457
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
The IGN post mischaracterizes the quote: Takeuchi referred to concluding a specific 10-year branding plan and storyline arc (from the RE2 remake era) after Requiem as a milestone, not ending the series itself, and confirmed multiple new titles ahead.

Brad Bird explains that each person's powers in ‘THE INCREDIBLES’ represents an average family unit.
“Fathers are expected to be strong, so I made him super strong.
Mothers are pulled in ten directions at once, so she stretches.
Teenagers are insecure & defensive so she can turn invisible & has force fields.
10-year old boys are energy balls that just go until they pass out.
Babies are unknowns, they could be the next leader of the free world or they could be a bag man, you don’t know.”

Now that we know some zombies survived the missile strike, a question has come to mind.
In "Wild Things", we could leave Oscar locked up and walk away without killing him.
So, is it possible that a zombie elephant could still be wandering the streets of Raccoon City near the zoo?

#Clayface I really dug this! The film is so well paced & immediately hooks you into Matt Hagen’s tragic story. DCU’s Gotham feels as grimy & alive as I could hope. The body horror is GNARLY . Coming from someone who HATES the solo villain movie trend I was pretty happy with this!

Despite Resident Evil fan backlash, Zach Cregger seemingly still wants to film 'Henchman'
“We’ve seen so many Batman stories, but to see it from just a bystander who’s on the edge of everything, I don’t know, I’m so fascinated by that.”
