To every ADA holder: decentralization is not something the protocol does for you. It is where you put your stake. Today twelve owners together hold a third of all staked ADA. Thirty-seven hold half. And stake barely moves: of the ADA that was staked a year ago and still is, 88 percent sits with the same pool today. Governance shows the same picture. Cardano has 294 active DReps. Twenty of them together carry the two thirds needed to pass a treasury withdrawal, and sixteen of those twenty run a stake pool. Five together can block one. In all, 120 of the 294 are linked to a stake pool, and they hold 80 percent of all DRep voting power. That clears every threshold a DRep vote has, without a single vote from a DRep who does not run a pool. Fourteen of them belong to the thirty-seven owners who hold half of all stake. Those fourteen alone hold 38 percent of the DRep vote, enough to block any treasury withdrawal. Those numbers only change if holders change them. Nobody else can. Your ADA carries two votes. The pool you delegate to votes as an SPO on hard forks, the committee and security parameters, with your stake behind it. Your vote delegation goes to a DRep. Both are your choice, and today the same large owners weigh heavily in both. There are 627 pools run by a single operator, one person or one team with one pool, with room under the saturation point, that answer on their relays. They are listed here, with their stake and their blocks, and you can delegate from the list: smitblockchainops.nl/#pools Ask yourself one question: how many pools does the operator of my pool run? If the answer is more than one, your ADA is adding weight where there is already plenty. Move it to a single pool operator. Yes, a pool with little stake pays its delegators somewhat less than a large one. That is temporary. As the pool fills up, your rewards rise with it. The network gets what it was designed for: many independent operators instead of a few large ones. Then choose your DRep the same way. Pick one who does not already hold a large share, and who explains their votes. And do check that the DRep shares your views. They are listed here, with how many of their votes came with an explanation: smitblockchainops.nl/#dreps Figures: Cardano chain, epoch 663, measured on our own decoder and db-sync. #cardano #cardanocommunity #ADA @Cardano_CF @Cardano @IntersectMBO #Drep #SPO $ADA #Governance @IOHK_Charles @Cerkoryn @JaromirTesar @GrahamsNoPlus1 @DenicioBernier

Of course raising K even higher (1500? 2000?) and then not having to kill off any pools would be even better IMHO. But just getting people to agree to 1000 is already extremely difficult.

Change my mind, but read it carefully first. 😉😇

NVM I figured it out. It bought them a stranglehold on governance.

If your DRep isn't voting on proposals expiring this epoch, simply delegate elsewhere.

If your DRep hasn't voted on the proposal to lower minPoolCost, please consider redelegating to a different one. The governance action expires tomorrow!
