Around 185 Catholic graves were vandalized at a cemetery in Corbeil-Essonnes, south of Paris, on October 31, just hours before All Saints' Day, when families traditionally visit the graves of their deceased loved ones.
Crosses were ripped from graves, statues of angels were destroyed, memorial plaques were smashed, and funeral ornaments were stolen. According to initial police reports, the destruction exclusively affected Catholic graves.
A 58-year-old Indian national living in Grigny was arrested by municipal police at approximately 1:40 p.m. after returning to the cemetery following an earlier incident in which he damaged a grave.
Police found that the suspect had collected objects from the graves in two bags.
The man's behavior raised concerns about his psychiatric condition, and a doctor determined that he was unfit for police custody. He was subsequently referred for involuntary psychiatric hospitalization.

Idle? For families, those savings mean emergency funds, retirement security and years of sacrifice.
To me, this language reveals a troubling attitude: private savings viewed as a resource for political ambitions.
The proposals do not establish confiscation or transfers to Ukraine. But Brussels must explain where investment would flow—including whether any schemes would finance Ukraine-related commitments—and who would bear the losses.
Investment must remain voluntary. Consent must be meaningful. Risks must be clear.
