It’s just 11 days until @AlabamaMBB tips off its season on Nov. 3, and today we remember Ray Odums, who joined the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame this past year. Odums was an All-SEC player and member of the first all-black starting basketball lineup in SEC history on Dec. 28, 1973.

It’s just 12 days until @AlabamaMBB tips off its season on Nov. 3, and today we remember All-SEC player Trevor Releford. As a senior he averaged 18.5 points, 3.1 assists and 2.2 steals. However, @TRelly12 is also known for his game-winning shot against Georgia on March 9, 2013.

Forget the word exhibition. When @AlabamaMBB and @AuburnMBB step onto the court tonight at 7 p.m. inside Legacy Arena at the BJCC, there will be absolutely NOTHING friendly about this matchup. When these schools cross paths, pride takes over, tempers flare and nobody wants to hear about moral victories. Tonight could be the most heated exhibition game college basketball has ever seen. The Crimson Tide enters 2-0 in exhibition play after scoring 111 points against Furman and 92 against Ole Miss. Even more impressive, @nate_oats has done it without a point guard. Aden Holloway remains suspended, while Anderson Diaz is sidelined with an injury. Neither will play against Auburn as Alabama continues its ball-handling by committee with Amari Allen, Qayden Samuels and Tarris Bouie. Auburn wants to rebound from an 82-71 exhibition loss to Florida State last week. The Tigers will also be shorthanded as Lithuanian transfer Mantas Rubštavičius remains in eligibility limbo, awaiting a judge’s decision on a temporary restraining order. Oats picked up a technical foul during last week’s 92-84 victory over Ole Miss so that tells you how seriously the Alabama head coach competes even in “exhibitions.” The atmosphere should be electric with Legacy Arena split between the rival fan bases and both teams wearing dark uniforms. Even though the calendar says it’s late October, tonight will feel like a heated SEC showdown in February.
