#UnravelingMysteriesMonday #UMM Why can't we remember being a baby? For today's themed post we're going to be exploring the idea that the brain structure itself is the culprit! What if the reason we don't remember wasn't a software problem but instead a hardware incompatibility?
This paper answers why can’t you remember being a baby? For over a century, science said you can't remember being a baby because your infant brain was just too "immature" to record anything. researchers assumed your hard drive was basically turned off for the first two years of life. But this wild paper from Yale completely rewrites how we understand human memory.. Researchers literally put awake babies (between 4 and 25 months old) into an fMRI scanner to watch their brains process new visual experiences in real-time. and what they found is mindblowing.. the infant hippocampus isn't turned off at all. it is actively firing, capturing, and encoding episodic memories. they proved that babies with higher hippocampal activity during a new experience formed a highly stable memory trace. the babies are recording the data. the memory of your first birthday, your first steps, the exact layout of the room you slept in.. it was all successfully saved to your brain. so why can't you remember it? the paper concludes that infantile amnesia isn't an "encoding" problem.. it is a "retrieval" problem. your brain recorded everything perfectly. but as you grew, your brain underwent massive developmental shifts, like explosive neurogenesis (the rapid birth of new neurons), which completely restructured your neural networks. the pathways to access those early files got buried or locked away. you didn't fail to make the memories.. you just lost the encryption key to open them. somewhere deep in your hippocampus, the exact first-person memory of being a 1-year-old might still be sitting there. you just can't access the file anymore.. the human brain is terrifyingly beautiful.

Today, October 26, is National Pumpkin Day. It is also considered by many the ideal day to carve those jack-o'-lanterns for Halloween!

This is such a cute little guy! An amazing picture here. Bats are amazing and deserve all the love!
Let's hear it for the night shift! It's Bat Week, and these winged wonders deserve some love. Bats devour insects, pollinate plants, spread seeds and provide natural pest control. They may have a spooky reputation, but they're essential to healthy ecosystems.

Sometimes the weirdest things can be what motivate us. For example: In my area we have a thing called Coffee News. A free weekly little publication that can be found at restaurants around the region. It has ads for local businesses, cute stories from around the world, and even a horoscope. In this week's edition, my horoscope was giving me a kick in the pants to get started instead of just talking about setting goals. I figured, why not take it's advice? I've been talking about goals both personal and public for a long time! Thus, on the one year anniversary since the formal start of this account (Nov 7), I will begin the start of serious content creation and streaming. Will people like it? Will I have any idea what I'm doing? Will my Internet connection fail me? I don't know...🤷 But finding out is better than just sitting doing nothing!

The moon, as it was just coming up over the trees, was such a beautiful sight. My wife saw it first and immediately called for me to join her. Truly magnificent the world God has given us...
Hunter’s Moon The corn is down. The fields lie bare. The moon climbs white above the mill. The stubble holds the silver where the dark once gathered on the hill. No leaf conceals the orchard wall. No standing stalk obscures the lane. The pears that no one came to haul lie bruised beneath the fallen rain. A doe stands listening by the creek, one hoof suspended in the cold. The moon lies white along her cheek; the wire shines on the broken fold. She knows the field by root and stone, the narrow place to cross the stream. Tonight she stands beside it, shown as plainly as a thing in dream. Then through the thorn she slips from sight. The branches tremble where she goes. The field lies empty in the light. Beyond the mill, a window glows.

This is the kind of wholesome that makes it worth being online with all the horrors!
I saw a little girl dressed up as a bee keeper at trunk or treat AND SHE HAD HER GUINEA PIG IN A TINY PORTABLE CAGE AND IT WAS WEARING A BEE COSTUME.

Bro is over here designing a tool to help as many of us as possible survive disaster... I really gotta up my game!
My friends were all talking about prepping so I made a survival LLM. A free app that runs an AI mdoel plus 1.5 million offline articles (medical guides, FEMA, survival manuals, wikipedia) entirely on your computer. No internet needed. brangus.io/survival-llm

I think the best way is not to just reply but to actively interact with the posts and find a way to make it your own!
Is replying to other people’s posts still the fastest way to grow on X? Or has the algorithm changed?

I try not to be a proud man but I'll admit, seeing a reply where I admit to past ignorance get so many likes is definitely pricking the ol' ego!

I remember thinking Daniel Boone was a folktale like Paul Bunion until I was older than I care to admit. Knowing how I reacted to the book, My Side of the Mountain, I would have been enthralled had I heard the stories of the great pioneers and explorers. Sadly, the schools don't teach it so it's up to us adults to pass in the stories of the men and women who inspire.

This is your reminder to #FreeStanky
Non-verified accounts having the ability to mass brigade verified customers and get them deplatformed is a massive failing on behalf of X. You can't give an inch to the anti-social, as they will abuse every weakness and every tool available to seek their advantage. If X wants to act as the "public forum of the internet" it needs to stop allowing the raving lunatics to determine who is allowed to enter the space. The feed is infested with ideological addicts who, like fentanyl zombies, disrupt the everyday lives of functional members of our community. "I was offended by that" So what! Scroll away. We cannot allow the sickness of The Blob to continue to affect our institutions. We cannot grant special statuses or protections to individual groups or identities in our community. Within the systems and policies of X, there still lies a deep, deep sickness. If there is any hope for healing, we must root it out. Free TheKingOfStank!

I gave a new instance of Grok the picture from the post below and the following prompt: "Fill this room with everything you know about me, but make it exaggerated" And here's the results!

把这张图发给GPT,然后附上这句话: “用你所知道的关于我的所有东西填满这个房间,夸张一点” 很好玩,去试试😋
