𝗠𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗽𝗮𝗲𝗱𝗼𝗽𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗲 𝗯𝗼𝘆𝗳𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘃𝗶𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗼𝗳 𝗺𝘂𝗿𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼𝗱𝗱𝗹𝗲𝗿 𝗜𝘀𝗮𝗯𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗲 𝗮𝗳𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗰𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗶𝗴𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗵𝗼𝗿𝗿𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰 𝗮𝗯𝘂𝘀𝗲. Mother Alexandra Walker, 25, and her boyfriend Harrison Simpson, 22, have been found guilty of murdering two-year-old Isabelle Welsh. Simpson was also convicted of sexually abusing the child. Both were found guilty of child cruelty. Isabelle suffered multiple injuries in the weeks before she collapsed with a fractured skull at their home in Thornaby on 13 September 2025. She died in hospital the next day. Doctors found she had a catastrophic brain injury, was covered in bruises, and had suffered 21 broken bones. Prosecutors said a "wicked" campaign of sexual abuse and violence began shortly after Simpson entered her life in June 2025. Walker prioritised her new relationship over her daughter's safety and allowed Simpson to be alone with Isabelle despite suspecting he was a paedophile. The pair blamed each other for the injuries. Jurors deliberated for around 6½ hours. Simpson was unanimously convicted of murder, cruelty and sexual assault of a child. Walker was convicted of murder by an 11-1 majority and of cruelty unanimously (she was found not guilty of sexual assault). Both will receive life sentences. Minimum terms will be set when they are sentenced on Thursday.
