I’m so broke right now but I want to see Clayface. I’m sorry wallet, you’ll have to take the hit even though I’ll regret it later.

Clayface reviews give you a good metric on the strange bias against the DCU. All signs pointed toward the film being generally well liked. This is considering the Letterboxd average of 3.7, aligning with similar horror flicks like Resident Evil, and the ratio of positive tweets vastly outnumbering negative and mixed impressions. Despite the objective evidence, you still had a multitude of tweets creating a narrative that the movie was ā€œoverwhelmingly negative/mixed.ā€ You had comments about it being the dc equivalent of a Sony-Verse villain movie. People will try to say that the comparison was presented only because it’s a villain origin film, but it’s pretty evident that it exists because of the negative association. These narratives swept up people unaware of the true reception of Clayface and caused them to believe that the movie is bad and thus the DCU had ā€œanother failure.ā€ & should be rebooted. Let’s be clear: these manufactured narratives were created on purpose to manufacture distrust and hate toward the DCU and its projects. They exist purely because some people want these projects to fail simply because of their association with the DCU. Built by stupid agenda pushers, and by groups who frankly don’t deserve to be named or called out, as my time is wasted by their incessant juvenile whining. This will be the norm for DCU projects. Everything will be under a microscope, and these films will be held to a different standard compared to similarly budgeted movies. No matter how much Clayface makes, just know that the narrative created will be that it needed to make a substantially greater amount of box office revenue compared to other horror flicks of similar budgets to be successful—just like how Lanterns is a failure despite the high viewership, because of course a superhero series from the DCU has to completely surpass everything before it or else it’s a failure Just know, Clayface got scrutinized only because of its association with the DCU. If they released the exact same film as today but in 2016, the same people calling it shit would celebrate it, because ultimately their love of a film comes down to whose name is attached, not the quality itself. There are certain people, however, who would hate it regardless of what era it released, but that’s to be expected. Also, just to clarify before the agenda posters who may try to use this tweet as an example of a ā€œtoxic DCU fanā€ not accepting bad reviews: Firstly, you are a moron, and second, this is not a slight or insult against reviewers who didn’t like the movie. If you disliked Clayface, that is fine and I don’t care. I have the mental maturity to know that there are subjective opinions when it comes to film analysis. This is made to spite of the agenda posters and not anyone who may have gotten swept up or misled about the ā€œnegative reception.ā€ I also understand that some people didn’t mean any ill will toward the film and were simply worried about its critical and financial reception. This is not an attack against you. The people this is targeting know this is addressing them because they’re probably reading this and preparing their responses.

"Controversial" is a loaded word. You only find "controversy" on social media, and it's mostly perpetuated by agenda posters and people who want to see every DCU project fail, regardless of the people involved and regardless of how successful it was (Superman and Lantern) Ask any general audience member in the real world, and they don't care.
Has the DCU released a single project that wasn’t somehow controversial? lol

DCU projects can never not be controversial because there's a bunch of different groups trying to strangle it in the crib who know these early years are important

Yeah. Atp, I'm just waiting for the review embargo to lift because some people are annoying with these fake reactions. I enjoyed reading the genuine mixed-to-negative reactions, but there are so many blatant trolls out there [and most of them haven't seen the film!]
Okay so just home and have looked at some reviews 90% of them are lying tbh There wasn’t really much bad dialogue besides a line or two and there isn’t any tonal shifts throughout the movie

Same people holding a grudge from the first movie because of conspiracies are now desperate for this to be a Whedon JL thing to fulfill their revenge fantasies because they can’t comprehend Reeves getting treated better than their favorite director. Lol.
James Gunn when asked about if Matt Reeves will be back for post-production on ā€˜THE BATMAN: PART 2’. ā€œLike I said... Matt is still the director, he doesn’t need to be ā€œbackā€. He’s still here.ā€

What do you think man? Being unfunny, unoriginal and flippant about a situation that really doesn’t require it. We don’t want to hear about ā€œwhat if the studio screwed Matt Reeves overā€ in light of his current circumstances.
lmao what the fuck are you on about dude
