As a writer, I acknowledge that my fics are downloadable and therefore spreadable using Ao3. I just don’t think it’s asking much for people to return to Ao3 & leave a kudos if they enjoyed the fic. Especially since so many of y’all act like you can’t go an entire day without it.

Idk i just feel like when ao3 is back up I need everybody to be heaps more graceful towards fic writers because if two weeks without their works is painful then maybe we shouldn't be discoursing weekly about how much you think they suck at writing.

am I being too harsh or "without the author gaining any site engagment" is absolutely stupid? ao3 is an archive, not a social media or a fic site. you shouldnt care about "gaining" anything.

feedback, we wouldn’t post it publicly, we’d just write for ourselves. The whole point of putting it online is to get a little attention and community out of it. And guess what? There is nothing wrong with that. Leave a comment, hit the kudos button. Tell the writer you liked it.

Every few weeks this same kind of person gets cycled into everyone’s attention and tbh it always makes me roll my eyes. They’re obviously not a creative so they simply don’t understand the motivations behind doing creative things. Art, in any form, wants to be acknowledged.

Hi all! We're so sorry about this AO3 issue. Since they have no idea when service will be restored at this point, we think the best move is for us to play it by ear. There is a chance that service could be restored earlier than they expect, or 4 weeks from now.
