👨🏽‍💻 Building Shopify stores @getplatter 🎥 New Video: $0 vs $100M Brand 👇

What's the difference between a $0 brand a $100M one? I spent two months flying around the country to find out. Today I'm dropping the first of four episodes in a new series called BTS: Building a Consumer Brand. Every episode I go behind the scenes with four founders at four completely different stages of building a consumer brand. The first one features: Franco from @rodeosnacks → $0 @tzwor from Unplugs → $1M+ @KarlsJake from @MidDaySquares → $40M+ @chunter228 from Koia → $100M+ I'm so pumped to share it with everyone. Hands down the best video I've made yet!

The best price objection on a sales call for a GTM tool is to turn the conversation into a math equation. Simply ask what their Average Contract Value (ACV) is. Once they realize that one deal in X time horizon is all it takes to be ROI positive they get way less sticker shock.

Just spoke to a business owner who’s never used ChatGPT or Claude. 1% of me wants to believe that we’re still early, but hard to tell after doomscrolling X for more than 5 minutes.

About to go on a generational run. Life comes and goes in different seasons. I’ve been in a quiet season online and it’s going to change soon. Stay tuned.

Big life update: After five years of building Platter, I’ll be transitioning out of my day-to-day role and into an advisory capacity. The business is on pace to have our best year ever by a wide margin. With that momentum, Mike, Kieran, and I have spent the past year discussing how our roles should evolve to best support the business. Together, we decided that the right next step is for Kieran to take the baton as CEO into this next chapter with clear leadership. Building @getplatter has been one of the most meaningful experiences of my life. What started as an idea has grown into a Shopify Platinum Agency Partner with a team that has helped hundreds of brands build and grow their businesses. I’m proud of what we’ve built and grateful to the team, clients, partners, and investors who have helped us get here. I’ll remain as an advisor, supporting the team and opening doors wherever I can. After five years of pouring myself into this business, I’m deeply invested in seeing it continue to win. As for what’s next for me, more updates to come soon 🤫

How do you think the world would change if AI disappeared for a year and us humans had to go back to a pre-AI era?

Thrilled to announce @getOuterSignal has raised a $22M Series A. A year ago, @zachzelner and I saw an opportunity to revolutionize personalization. We spun out a tool he’d built into a company, and got to work. In the time since, we’ve gone from a few early customers to thousands, from 2 team members to 25, and created an entirely new frontier for how businesses can understand and market to their customers. Our team has built a robust platform, trained internal models, conducted industry-leading research, and onboarded thousands of companies we’re proud to work with. So, this raise is meant for one thing only: to keep shipping, faster than ever, the very best products for the consumer businesses we power. Ecom, hospitality, mobile apps and beyond: OuterSignal is here to supercharge the way companies connect with consumers. As founders, we’re humbled, grateful, and truly just getting started. Try us for free at OuterSignal.com. And if you’re an A-player ready to work on something ambitious and enduring, we want to meet you. DM’s open. Onward 🚀

Not letting someone easily cancel a SaaS subscription is absolutely predatory. You want me to talk to your AI agent bot to then get connected to your CS team to then tell them to let me fucking free? Don't build a business off predatory behavior - you should have good retention because people want to use/pay for your product, not because you force them to stay and hope they forget to go through your 10 step flow to cancel.

When you accept the harsh reality that the world will keep moving forward no matter what after you die, you will understand that it’s pointless to live any way other than as the most authentic unapologetic version of yourself. Go do the shit that makes you feel alive and stop worrying about the opinion of others.

The most defensible thing you have in 2026 is your reputation. Treat people with respect, make intros with no expectation of anything in return, and keep in mind the only thing people will remember is how you made them feel.

Make it easy for other people to root for you. When you’re a world class person, world class operator, building a world class business you attract the best and everyone will want to see you win. It’s how I feel about @kentyoshimura and @ryc_oki who have built @NeuroGum over the last 10+ years. Seeing them front and center on not only the biggest video @MrBeast has ever produced, but also one of the most philanthropic videos to exist on YouTube is exactly what I would expect. They are humble and genuinely want to see everyone around them win. Congrats my friends 🙏

Nothing I’d rather do at 2:10am in Europe than watch the Buffalo Bills first game in the new stadium.

What do you think is the impetus for people to hit a point in their life where they realize they can start questioning things? I just had a super philosophical conversation about how liberating life became when I realized that I didn’t have to “follow this script” that was instilled in me at a young age and I can point to one experience / epiphany where I’m like damn this all makes sense. Curious what others think.
