YOUâVE CHANGED has a cover!
A book for anyone whoâs ever tried to shed an old skinâor watched someone else do it and thought, "Really?" Itâs about people chasing transformation, others denying theyâve even jiggled their ideological thermostat, and what change looks like in an age of political derangement, tech disruption, and psychic despair. Itâs about how much of what we âknowâ about change is wrong.
Thanks to everyone who talked to me over the last six years: psychedelic reality benders, name-changers, gender and sexuality reimaginers, political team-hoppers, octogenarian personality shifters, reformed killers, change-obsessed psychologists, and my dadâa breath and meditation teacher who once wrote a newsletter on the âart and science of self-transformation.â (Apple, meet tree.)
Out April 28 from @WmMorrowBooks and (with a different cover) @PenguinUKBooks. Pre-order link in bio.

We spend half our lives building a self and the other half dismantling itâon the therapistâs couch, in the gym, or with blind optimism every January.

Barney Frank, who I was lucky to profile nearly two decades ago, was funny, prickly, impatient, incredibly sharp, and surprisingly tenderâall within the span of about five minutes.
One thing I remember from my time with him was how skeptical he was of political rallies and marches. âThe NRA never marches,â he told me dismissively. He thought too much activism prioritized emotional release over persuasion, negotiation, and arm-twisting. I think he sometimes missed that feeling part of something matters to people, that rallies and marches are important not only politically but psychologicallyâhelping people feel less alone while also building movements and community.
Whether I agreed or disagreed with Barney, hanging out with him was never boring.
Rest in peace, Barney Frank.
