Fantastic news and many congratulations @uhbtrust and @DocSteveTaylor! So pleased Birmingham is now part of the opt-out BBV testing programme - a major commitment of the #HIVActionPlan aimed at expanding HIV testing and linkage to life saving care. @DHSCgovuk @NHSEngland @OHID
Fantastic day at @uhbtrust #emergencyDepartment as #OptOut #HIV and #Hepatitis testing goes live . Everyone having blood taken in the ED department will now have additional blood samples taken for these viruses. Without a doubt this will save so many lives

Opt-out #HIV and #Hepatitis testing in Emergency Department is an absolute game changer Just ask @IanJackson50 @DocSteveTaylor and @VictoriaAtkins
Good to hear Dr Dan Clutterbuck talk about the benefits of opt-out testing for broader blood borne viruses and the potential it has to help reach both the imminent Hep C elimination targets and our goal to end new cases of HIV in Scotland by 2030.

Supporting a new diagnosis through peers is going to be a priority when opt-out testing is rolled out in Birmingham. We are determined that Positive Peers will be at the heart of that peer support/mentoring #optout #Birmingham #HIV #PeerSupport

I also asked @mariamkhan29 about what support is out there for those who test positive for HIV, including groups like @peers_positive

I wholeheartedly agree @maggie_erewash When you introduced the first Opt Out Testing programme, you changed 1000s of lives for the better. 👏🏻👏🏽👏🏿 & prevented future transmissions. Life saving stuff. 💪🏻💪🏼💪🏿 Great to see your legacy being extended. Thank you 🙏🏻
Thank you @maggie_erewash for all you have done to champion opt-out HIV testing. The expansion of opt-out HIV testing to 46 more hospitals across the country takes us one step closer to ending the HIV epidemic in England and changing thousands of lives along the way.
