I tried explaining Malfoid to my very online, kindof-rightwing but not super politically engaged friend last week and it was frankly a humiliating experience. Nobody but a microscopic sect of mentally ill shut-ins knows or cares about this goofy shit.
It cannot be overstated how culturally significant Anakin poasting is. I dont think you could engineer a better anti-progressive memetic virus in lab if you tried.

Something really interesting about avian intelligence is that their brains are about twice as dense as mammal brains with neurons. They pack more into a smaller space, which is one of the things thats allowed birds like ravens to evolve into some of the smartest animals on earth

"The backbone of this operation are people in lower income countries, such as the Philippines, Indonesia and Vietnam, who do this out of financial necessity. One woman, a 46 year old who lives north of Manila, had seen a tiktok video promoting atlas capture. She had questions about AI (some people in the philippines blame it for replacing jobs in the. Country's call-centre industry)... since signing up, shes recorded herself cleaning, organizing and sweeping outside; when passersby inquired about the iPhone on her head, she recommended the app. Her hourly rate worked out to about US$2.40, which she felt could be higher, but she didnt have any plans to stop."
In the past few years, researchers have found that first-person video is a crucial ingredient to training general-purpose robots to work in factories and warehouses, or vacuum floors and load dishwashers in homes. Globe reporter Joe Castaldo tried making one of these videos using an online platform that collects and pays for them. Every movement had to be recorded. Both hands had to stay in frame. Some chores had to be stretched out far longer than felt natural. And the experience revealed a strange reality at the centre of the AI race: companies are collecting millions of hours of human activity so robots can learn to navigate the physical world. From Nigeria to the Philippines, thousands of people are supplying that data. Their labour may help create the next generation of humanoid robots. The question is who benefits when human experience becomes training data. All figures are in USD. Video by @Joe_Castaldo, Kelsey Wilson and Bianca Bharti. 🔗 Read more: theglobeandmail.com/business… #AI #robots #tech

In the abstract, technology in and of itself is not a solution to humanity’s problems, just as, in and of itself, it is not inherently evil. In practice, however, technology is never neutral, because it takes on the characteristics of those who devise it, finance it, regulate it and use it.

"North Korea invaded South Korea" is one of the most successful lies in modern history. There was no "North" or "South Korea". There was one nation, divided in 45 minutes by two US colonels using a National Geographic map. Before a single US soldier landed, Koreans had already formed their own government. 135 People's Committees across the entire country. The US's own officer on the ground called them "genuine grassroots democratic" organizations. The US dismantled them in the South, keeping in place the Japanese colonial police and Japanese-trained collaborators. Under the cover of the US military, the Japanese colonizers simply changed flags. Then the US flew in their man. Syngman Rhee arrived on MacArthur's personal plane, with a passport the State Department had refused to issue. Per the CIA's own assessment: he was "a demagogue bent on autocratic rule" who would pursue "ruthless suppression of all opposition." The US military government polled Koreans in 1946. 70% preferred socialism. 14% preferred capitalism. For the US, this popular will was precisely the problem. Rhee's forces massacred 100,000 to 200,000 of their own people before and during the war. US Army Signal Corps photographers were present. The photos sat classified for decades. MacArthur called it "an internal matter." South Korean forces crossed the 38th parallel repeatedly in 1949. Battalion-sized attacks northward, documented by State Department historian John Merrill. An August 1949 incident found ROK troops already positioned north of the line. The May 1950 elections, 26 days before the war, returned 130 independents against 49 Rhee seats. The population rejected him through every available channel. Washington had a problem. Koreans wanted socialism. Korea reunified on Korean terms was Korea lost. That could not be permitted. So they went to war. US Air Force General Curtis LeMay later admitted: "We burned down every town in North Korea... we killed off over a million civilian Koreans and drove several million more from their homes." While burning the North, the US Army ordered its forces to strafe South Korean civilian refugee columns. "All civilians seen in this area are to be considered as enemy." They were defending no one. North Korea lost a higher percentage of its population than any country in World War Two. What happened in June 1950 was not an invasion of one country by another. It was a government with popular roots moving against a US-installed client that was massacring its own people and had just been repudiated at the ballot box. Every word of this is in American archives. CIA ORE 15/48. FRUS 1945-1950. NARA RG 111. The Jeju 4.3 Investigation Report. Marshall's own cables. LeMay's own mouth. Kim Il Sung called it a colonial scheme in 1948. Decades of declassified US documents proved him right.

It's been a long time since I could have been considered a "college activist" but message received. I hereby call on the US government to cease its decades long support for the Islamic Republic of Iran and on American businesses to divest of their Iranian holdings.
us college activists would gain a little credibility if they were demonstrating against the brutal repression in iran.

"Rent is too high!" Because  housing is a commodity for profit. Wall Street & corporate landlords hoard properties, driving up prices. Immigrants are tenants, not the landlords. "Groceries cost too much!" & "Healthcare is too expensive!" Because of corporate profiteering. Giant monopolies like Kroger & Big Pharma jack up prices to enrich shareholders. Immigrants struggle with these costs, as much or more than other people.  "There aren't enough jobs!" & "Welfare spending is through the roof!" Because capitalism benefits from unemployment to keep wages low. The bosses use this to pit workers against each other. Immigrants aren't the ones slashing wages or hoarding wealth. "Women don't feel safe!" & "Traffic is terrible!" Studies show immigrant communities have lower crime rates. Women don’t feel safe and won’t be safe in a system that protects pedophiles and sex traffickers- like those in the Epstein files. Traffic is a result of failed public infrastructure & car-centric planning, funded by auto & oil giants. Many problems. One answer: end capitalism before it ends us! The enemy isn't the immigrant. The enemy is the capitalist who exploits and oppress us all.  Stop stupifying the public for your racist agenda and to protect billionaires!
“Rent is too high!” There are tens of millions of criminal illegals in our country. “Groceries cost too much!” There are tens of millions of criminal illegals in our country. “There aren’t enough jobs!” There are tens of millions of criminal illegals in our country. “Women don’t feel safe walking down the street!” There are tens of millions of criminal illegals in our country. “Traffic is terrible!” There are tens of millions of criminal illegals in our country. “Healthcare is too expensive!” There are tens of millions of criminal illegals in our country. “Welfare spending is through the roof!” There are tens of millions of criminal illegals in our country. “I can’t afford a car!” There are tens of millions of criminal illegals in our country. “I can’t afford a house!” There are tens of millions of criminal illegals in our country. Many problems. A simple answer.

You'll all have seen the many announcements and PR pieces from #ColossalBiosciences. There are reasons to be concerned about the general message promoted by CB, one being that it's seen >by some< (US politicians in particular) as meaning that we can devalue conservation. 🧵1/n

The mid-20th century prosperity of the U.S. and Northern Europe was not proof that capitalism "works"—but rather evidence of what happens when capital is temporarily forced to concede to working-class power. 🧵⬇️

People in politics and media who oppose the status quo often drift rightward, especially in the US; Tulsi Gabbard and RFK Jr are some clear recent examples. This is because the Trumpian political wing offers mainstream power and influence to those with an "anti-establishment" streak, while mainstream progressive politics doesn't offer anything close. If you're a right wing "populist" you can get elected president, while anyone to the left of Kamala Harris sees their campaigns sabotaged with smear campaigns and rigged primaries. We see a similar dynamic play out in independent media; you'll see many solidly leftist commentators drifting to the right as they find bigger numbers in attacking liberal institutions than attacking the Trumpian faction, because anti-establishment sentiment is much more mainstream on the right. A much larger audience pool has been allowed to amass there for hostility toward establishment institutions — because the right poses no threat to real power. And therein lies the key point. Anti-establishment figures in politics and punditry aren't drifting rightward because the right has better arguments or is more solidly grounded in truth and morality, they're drifting rightward because the so-called "populist right" has been allowed to flourish while its mirror on the left has not. Right wing "populism" has been allowed to flourish by the very power structures they purport to oppose, while the authentic left has been systematically dismantled by generations of aggressive imperial operations (look up COINTELPRO for example). That's why you see Trump backed by oligarchs, empire managers and DC swamp monsters and uplifted by the Murdoch press while anti-imperialist socialism can barely even be said to exist anywhere in the US-aligned world. So while the power and influence offered by right wing "populist" factions can be tempting, that power and influence only exists because those factions are supported and defended by the empire itself. Public discontent is being corralled toward establishment-friendly political structures so that it doesn't head anywhere that can threaten the mechanics of the empire, while authentic opposition to capitalism, militarism and empire building is viciously subverted by any means necessary. Bernie Sanders and AOC play the same role on the other side of the aisle, by the way, as do ostensibly leftist media like TYT who herd people back into support for the Democratic Party. Real opposition to real power is not permitted to ascend to the presidency of the world's most powerful government. It is marginalized, smeared and subverted, and kept as small as possible. That's why some who begin with sincere opposition to real power find themselves drawn to the right: it's larger and offers more opportunities, because it is more aligned with the ruling power structures of our day. It's fool's gold. It sells you power and influence so that you can fight the power, but after you've paid you find yourself on the same side as the power. You sold out for nothing. You might as well have skipped the middle part and gone directly to collecting the big bucks whoring yourself out to mainstream politics and media defending the empire without pretending to be something else. Staying true and authentic can be hard. It comes at a price. You don't get to see your favorite politicians win elections and take important positions in government. You don't get to amass tens of millions of loyal followers who hang on your every word. You lose friends and alienate family members with your positions on war and capitalism and imperialism and Zionism. You can't even watch a movie or a show without being frequently disgusted by the empire propaganda you'll see. It isn't pretty. But at least it's real. It's another one of those red pill vs blue pill deals. Do you want disconcerting truths or comforting lies? If you want to be true to what's true, you don't compromise your values to support political factions which support the very power structures you oppose. You stay focused on the enemy. You keep throwing sand in the gears of the machine, hoping that if enough people throw enough sand it will eventually come crashing down, but self-assured that you're going to keep throwing sand either way, win or lose. Sure it's hard. Sure it entails a lot of disappointments and losses. But at least it's real. At least it stands a chance at beating the bastards, however small. As weak and pathetic as you can feel throwing haymakers at a globe-spanning empire some days, it sure beats the hell out of collaborating with it. And that's exactly what you'd be doing by joining up with fraudulent political factions which claim to oppose the empire.

Over the course of the last year, this campaign has waged a historic socialist challenge to the two-party system. We’ve traveled the country, hearing from working people about how capitalism makes their lives unlivable, and talking about the socialist solutions to these crises. Thanks to the grassroots efforts of thousands of volunteers, we have overcome undemocratic ballot access laws and spread our message far and wide. But the fight is just beginning. The struggle to end the dictatorship of the billionaire class does not stop after Election Day, no matter who is in the White House. Stay in the streets, organize, and join the Party for Socialism and Liberation (@pslnational): pslweb.org/join/
