Here's why Brazil’s Supreme Court extended voting today.
In 2023, the Court ruled in ADPF 1.013 that cities must provide free public transit on Election Day.
Today, buses went missing in Salvador, São Paulo, and Feira de Santana. All three mayors endorsed Flávio Bolsonaro.
In Salvador, judges found buses parked in the garage on city orders and ordered the transit secretary arrested.
So Justice Zanin enforced the Court’s own ruling: two extra hours for the voters those cities left stranded.
It's alleged that Bolsonaro loyalists grounding public transit to suppress the vote violated a Supreme Court order, which is the actual scandal today. Not that the Supreme Court granted the requests of BOTH candidates to extended voting so that voters would not be disenfranchised.
But it's telling that MAGA thinks that latter is the scandal.

This is extraordinary detail on how the 250 MP candidates on the Student List were chosen in Serbia. They are now projected to win about 140 of 250 seats. Incredible outbreak of direct, participatory democracy to product a Parliament of doctors, scientists, artists and activists.

Liderlere dayalı, yukarıdan aşağıya bir örgütlenme yerine, herkesin söz alabildiği öğrenci genel kurulları (plenum) oluşturdular. Kararlar tartışılarak, mümkün olduğunca uzlaşmayla alındı.
Bu yöntemi üniversitelerin dışına da taşıdılar. Mahallelerde, kentlerde ve köylerde yurttaş meclisleri (zborovi) kuruldu. İnsanlar kendi sorunlarını tartışmak, çözüm önermek ve birlikte karar almak için toplandı.
250 kişilik milletvekili aday listesini de şöyle oluşturdular:
1- Önce 250 adaylık kontenjanı, öğrenci sayılarına göre altı üniversite kenti arasında paylaştırdılar. Belgrad'ın listeye hâkim olmaması için diğer kentlerin de üst sıralarda temsil edilmesini sağladılar. Ardından her kentin kontenjanını fakülteler arasında dağıttılar.
2- Ülke genelinde 80'den fazla fakültede öğrenci genel kurulları toplandı. Öğrenciler kendileri aday olmadı ama her biri aday önerebildi ve neden o kişiyi önerdiğini açıkladı. İsimler tartışıldı, önce uzlaşma arandı, gerektiğinde oylama yapıldı.
3- Mevcut siyasi kadrolara kapıyı kapattılar. İktidar partilerinin mevcut ve eski üyelerini, iktidar adına görev yapmış siyasetçileri ve bürokratları, muhalefet partilerinin üst düzey yöneticilerini aday göstermediler. Böylece hem iktidardan hem de yerleşik muhalefetten bağımsız bir liste oluşturdular.
4- Fakülteler birbirlerinin adaylarını da denetledi. Önerilen bütün isimler ortak bir listede toplandı ve tüm fakültelerin incelemesine açıldı. İtirazlar öğrenci kurullarında tartışıldı. Adayın elenmesi için kurulların yarısından fazlasının veto etmesi gerekiyordu. Tek bir fakültenin itirazı yeterli değildi.
5- Elenen veya çekilen adayların yerine yedekler getirildi. Böylece profesörlerin, doktorların, bilim insanlarının, işçilerin, sanatçıların ve aktivistlerin yer aldığı 250 kişilik liste ortaya çıktı.

UPDATE | Death from Israeli air strikes across Gaza displacement camps rises to 5
The death toll from fresh Israeli air strikes across the Gaza Strip rose to five, including a young girl.
Civil defense spokesperson Mahmoud Bassal told Agence France-Presse that emergency teams retrieved three bodies following a direct strike on an encampment for displaced Palestinians in Al-Mawasi, west of Khan Yunis. The agency confirmed that a fourth displaced person was killed in a separate air strike targeting a shelter tent near Khan Yunis.
Concurrently, Israeli military aircraft targeted areas farther north, striking the Al-Rimal neighborhood in Gaza City. Officials at Al-Shifa Hospital confirmed receiving one fatality and three wounded survivors from the Al-Rimal bombardment.
Bassal reported that relentless artillery fire and targeted aerial bombardments have killed 13 people and wounded approximately 60 others across the enclave within 24 hours.

Israeli occupation forces and backed gunmen launched a series of strikes across central and southern Gaza today, killing three Palestinians—including a seven-year-old girl—and injuring five others.
A medical source at Nasser Hospital confirmed to Anadolu Agency that the bodies of two young men and the child were brought to the facility following an airstrike and heavy gunfire in the Bir 19 area west of Khan Yunis, an area heavily populated with tents for forcibly displaced families.
Witnesses detailed how an Israeli drone executed multiple strikes on the Bir 19 encampment, killing one young man and wounding four others.
Simultaneously, Israeli armored vehicles and affiliated gunmen opened heavy fire directly into the displacement tents, fatally shooting the seven-year-old child inside her shelter and killing another young man.
Israeli artillery also shelled eastern sectors of Khan Yunis while armored units made limited advances east of Deir al-Balah, where a Palestinian woman was moderately wounded by live fire.
Data from Gaza’s Health Ministry indicates that despite the official so-called 'truce,' ongoing Israeli attacks have killed at least 1,551 Palestinians and injured over 5,500 others as occupation forces continue shelling and ground operations beyond the "Yellow Line" demarcation.
