🚨Willian Estêvão on the message Jordan Henderson sent him after the Brentford defeat:
🗣️ Willian Estêvão: “After the match, we all went home feeling sorry for ourselves. It was one of those nights where you keep replaying the game in your head and thinking about what you could have done differently.
“Later that day, I got a message from Henderson.
“He said, ‘Willy, how are you? I’m sure you’re thinking about the game.’
“I said, ‘Yeah, I am.’
“He said, ‘I know you had less minutes and came off the bench, but I saw what you did.’
“I replied, ‘What did I do?’
“He said, ‘I saw you take on that player and then create the pass for Quenda to get the shot on target. A few minutes later, you created another spark. You changed the feeling of the game.’
“Then he said something that really stayed with me.
“‘That is exactly how you get the coach’s attention. It’s not about sitting on the bench feeling sorry for yourself because you didn’t start. It’s about making your five minutes count so much that the coach starts thinking, “How do I give this kid 90?”’
“I was shocked.
“He’s new to the team, and I’ve been here for a year, but he was talking to me like someone who had known me for years.
“Then he sent another message.
“‘After the international break, if the coach doesn’t start you, don’t feel bad. Fight. Don’t show him that you’re disappointed. Show him what he’s missing.’
“I asked him, ‘So you think I should be angry?’
“He said, ‘No. Be hungry.’
“Then he told me, ‘Every player wants to start. The difference is what you do when you don’t.’
“I kept reading that message.
“And honestly, it changed the way I looked at the situation.
“Before, I was thinking about the minutes I didn’t get.
“After Henderson’s message, I started thinking about the minutes I did get.
“Five minutes can feel like nothing.
“But if you use those five minutes properly, they can become ten. Ten can become twenty. Twenty can become a start.
“That night, Henderson didn’t give me football advice.
“He gave me a different mentality.
“And I think that is what I needed to hear.
“Now when I come off the bench, I don’t think, ‘I only have five minutes.’
“I think, ‘The coach just gave me five minutes to change his mind.’”

The one good thing about it, was that it was a nice introduction to classic rock music for a lot of us kids.

Now that we know that the USMNT 🇺🇸 and USMNT 🇺🇸 U-23s will be in camp at the same time… and that the U-23s will have friendlies, US Soccer should 100% stream the U-23 games.
Let us watch the prospects play, build hype for the Olympic team, watch them progress till 2028!
It’s a must!!!

“Nellie believed in me more than any coach I ever played for. He embraced me from day one. He understood me, trusted me, and gave me the freedom to be myself on the court. That’s all I ever wanted from a coach, and Nellie gave me that.
I loved playing for him, and I loved the relationship we had. He brought the best out of me and helped make that ‘We Believe’ run one of the most special times of my career. I’ll always be grateful to Nellie, and I’ll always love him and his family.” - Stephen Jackson
