🚨Willian Estêvão on the message Jordan Henderson sent him after the Brentford defeat: 🗣️ Willian Estêvão: “After the match, we all went home feeling sorry for ourselves. It was one of those nights where you keep replaying the game in your head and thinking about what you could have done differently. “Later that day, I got a message from Henderson. “He said, ‘Willy, how are you? I’m sure you’re thinking about the game.’ “I said, ‘Yeah, I am.’ “He said, ‘I know you had less minutes and came off the bench, but I saw what you did.’ “I replied, ‘What did I do?’ “He said, ‘I saw you take on that player and then create the pass for Quenda to get the shot on target. A few minutes later, you created another spark. You changed the feeling of the game.’ “Then he said something that really stayed with me. “‘That is exactly how you get the coach’s attention. It’s not about sitting on the bench feeling sorry for yourself because you didn’t start. It’s about making your five minutes count so much that the coach starts thinking, “How do I give this kid 90?”’ “I was shocked. “He’s new to the team, and I’ve been here for a year, but he was talking to me like someone who had known me for years. “Then he sent another message. “‘After the international break, if the coach doesn’t start you, don’t feel bad. Fight. Don’t show him that you’re disappointed. Show him what he’s missing.’ “I asked him, ‘So you think I should be angry?’ “He said, ‘No. Be hungry.’ “Then he told me, ‘Every player wants to start. The difference is what you do when you don’t.’ “I kept reading that message. “And honestly, it changed the way I looked at the situation. “Before, I was thinking about the minutes I didn’t get. “After Henderson’s message, I started thinking about the minutes I did get. “Five minutes can feel like nothing. “But if you use those five minutes properly, they can become ten. Ten can become twenty. Twenty can become a start. “That night, Henderson didn’t give me football advice. “He gave me a different mentality. “And I think that is what I needed to hear. “Now when I come off the bench, I don’t think, ‘I only have five minutes.’ “I think, ‘The coach just gave me five minutes to change his mind.’”

"Turn it up, man!" I swear the "Freedom Rock" commercial was played 100 times per day in 1988. The one good thing about it, was that it was a nice introduction to classic rock music for a lot of us kids.

Now that we know that the USMNT 🇺🇸 and USMNT 🇺🇸 U-23s will be in camp at the same time… and that the U-23s will have friendlies, US Soccer should 100% stream the U-23 games. Let us watch the prospects play, build hype for the Olympic team, watch them progress till 2028! It’s a must!!!

When I heard about Senator Graham’s death last night, the first thing I thought about was not all the things he said and did in service of Donald Trump. I thought of the time before Donald Trump when he was a brother to Senator John McCain. A time when senators from different parties could fight about politics and still be friends. A time when a conservative Republican from South Carolina could say of my father: “If you can’t admire Joe Biden as a person, you’ve got a problem. He’s the nicest person I’ve ever met in politics. As good a man as God ever created.” That is the Senator Graham I will remember today. Not because I have forgotten what came after. Because in that memory there is hope. Hope for a country where brothers can fight like hell over policy and still share a meal, and a laugh, and the loss of the people they love. I will choose to remember the time before Trump. Because I believe in an America after Trump.

It's conclusive. Promotion and relegation battles increase fan interest and attendance. 18.8% increase in May/June attendance in the EFL Championship. Also note. The estimated attendance effect is based on a 10% change in the season-outcome probability. Many promotion and relegation battle games matter much more than 10%.

🚨🗣️ José Mourinho on the VAR double standard between Lionel Messi and Folarin Balogun: "When I speak about the system, people call me crazy. They say Mourinho is always complaining. But today, the whole world saw the script with their own eyes. Folarin Balogun makes an accidental step, a completely natural movement of a striker fighting for the ball, and VAR calls the referee like a crime has been committed. A straight red card. He misses the biggest game of his life. But when the poster boy of FIFA, Lionel Messi, puts his studs into the calf of an opponent, the VAR room suddenly loses their internet connection. The referee goes blind. It is a completely different rulebook. If Balogun's name was Folarin Messi, he would not have even received a warning. It is not about the severity of the foul anymore; it is entirely about the name printed on the back of the shirt. It is a disgrace."
