I'm commenting on thoughts I have about gun community topics, particularly the NRA since I'm a longtime life member.
Also, since I don't use the book of faces publicly, I may respond to some things I see there over here.
Saw this since @JustinDavisNRA shared it. I'll be honest, I'd like to see presentations to the various committees about what it was that worked in some really challenging races. How can the resources that NRA has, but often does not use, be put to work for that?
Reflecting on a truly remarkable win for @MainePaulLePage in a truly awful climate requires acknowledging some unsung heroes.
Most importantly: every person that volunteered. Campaigns don’t exist without people who engage just for the love of the game.
Everyone on Team LePage. We are a very small but very mighty team. It’s a family affair. I am so proud of us. (@207edg and @BrentDC).
Of course everyone at RNC and NRCC was fantastic. (@misschristinatn, @ChairmanGruters, @kc4gop, @kristencianci, @MaureenOToole4, and so many others).
Everyone at the Maine GOP who put up with my calls, visits and texts (@mainegop, @jsavage207)
And a huge shoutout to @ChrisLaneMA at @cygnal who was exceptional and who I would recommend over and over.
And of course Paul LePage himself!
There are so many individuals who exist that deserve thanks and praise but I don’t have their X handles, so don’t feel excluded. 🤣
For an update for those following publicly: Resent the complaint to NRA, got a call from the vendor whose phone numbers are labeled as spam by my carrier, finally got my refund.
But holy moly, it's a mess. I'm team Digital Student Books now.
You know @SebastianSNBQ used to tell people that they can't rely on the courts to save them. If our biggest supporters are leaving the administration, then kinda seems like it would have been good to step up the grassroots networks yesterday.
So fun fact with Doug Hamlin's push to have instructors email the Education & Training department with issues: If they don't feel like it, they just ignore instructors raising real issues. Short 🧵
So, yeah, in addition to NRA's internal issues, they are locked in with a vendor who isn't working and can stand in the way of being able to teach classes.
It's not widespread yet, but there are warning flags & NRA is silent.
What pisses me off with some of @NRA isn't just what isn't happening that should have been happening for 20 years.
It's also the Board members seeking leadership who gaslight the members who know better about what's not happening.
Take this interview that @REALIZERadio did with @TheReloadSite where she basically said 2026 is going to be this AMAZING year showing big results - especially on political organizing. Yeah. We're waiting. I didn't even get the generic GOTV email.

Replying to @BitterReloaded
OMG. This isn't good. It sounds like @REALIZERadio thinks that ILA has recently been engaging & activating grassroots members on elections (describing us as silly cats chasing lasers) to help them out and that is making up for the lack of PVF spending.
For those who don't remember the interview, here's the election discussion: youtu.be/L8YtyN5tk2I?si=p5g-…
The Board members who actually know what isn't happening and what kinds of work needs to get done aren't in big leadership roles.
So. Seems like it would be a good time for NRA & all of the other gun rights groups to get their shit together for activism.
Granted, I don't think traditional rallying against bills works anymore. It's all baked into the turnout numbers in elections.
A weird email from @NRA sent to others (I didn't get it): "This may be our last day before voters hit the polls, but that means I still have some time left to reach patriots like you."
Sent at 7:22am today. Not the last day before hitting the polls. Someone didn't read it.
I've never voted at this location right when the polls open. Will be interesting to see which precinct this line goes to. We have one more GOP precinct and one solid Dem precinct.
A lot of women are turning up. And multiple Dem women are parking in reserved spots. Rude. Honor the rules.
