I often get DMs from investors asking me what I think of a domain name they own. Please do not rely on the 2-second gut feel of anyone who is not invested in the domain or your success. Because unless it's a single word in a popular TLD, like fire.com, online.co, crypto.xyz, calc.io, or purple.org, I don't know offhand or by gut. Here's what I have to do to evaluate it: 1. Go to DomainAcademy.com/tools 2. Start the Valuation Worksheet 3. Enter the domain name and auto-pull all the characteristics 4. Verify that the data it pulled from 30+ built-in sources looks reasonable or fix it 5. Pull historical comps using the @Namebio built-in integration 6. If recent, relevant, and retail historical sales comps are too few, add in recent relevant for-sale domains 7. Eliminate unreasonable automated appraisals that are built into the worksheet 8. Determine wholesale, fair market retail, and max retail pricing ranges It takes about 5 minutes to complete a Valuation Worksheet. If I don't do a Worksheet, I am just guessing.
