I asked Shannon Dowell if she knew she was two assists away from a triple double:
“I was very aware…I’ve never had a triple double before.”
Charmin Smith patted her on the back and said “Sorry” 😂
Let’s go @shannonsimoneee - Keep being great!

The truth about sports performance is that people will always promote whatever is “new” or “in,” regardless of its quality, effectiveness, or standards. When it fails to deliver, they simply move on to the next trend.
The coaches who prioritize education, sound principles, and genuinely doing right by their athletes don’t have to chase trends. They stay committed to the process, maintain their standards, and continue making a meaningful difference for the people they serve and the people that matter.
Let’s go. Congrats bud!
Dreams to Reality. Blessed to be able to announce my commitment to Middle Tennessee State University🔵⚪️ @CavaliersBSB @Coach_Shafer19 @ryermann @Coach_Ulrey @TThom3284 @MT_Baseball @Wiz5555 @KNicholsMTSU @Bearcat_MTXE @GrossConnor1
No doubt. We have every resource a D-1 would have at Kankakee CC. I’d argue we have more then most D-1s development wise. Just not as big/ pretty as D-1
Secrets in the dirt. That will never change. Find great people to surround yourself with and get to work. Great things happen.
Strongest kid in the program. D1 guy
With the fall wrapping up, here’s some final clips from the game at @BallStateBB.

Marc Rardin tells his players something every family focused on the batting order should hear: your leadoff, your three-hole, your nine-hole, you are only that when I hand in the lineup for the first inning. There are some innings you are the three-hole hitter. Where your son hits in the order is a starting point, not an identity. What he does when his spot comes up is the identity.
Bingo - No I in Team - Especially for kids. Players that buy into the whole picture, will get more satisfaction when it ends.
Live in the moment and good things happen. Baseball isn’t your identity. It’s a game. Need to get the important values back into the game. Less sales
Pat Bloom's Wash U program teaches a distinction your family should adopt whole: transactional versus transformative. You cannot build anything real by bouncing from place to place , and, he adds, future employers see real value in an athlete who stayed four years and became a leader inside one program. In an era that celebrates movement, the resume still rewards roots.

Great stuff
How do we know which recovery strategy someone actually needs?
Kellmann and colleagues' "Recovery and Performance in Sport: Consensus Statement" is a useful starting point. Recovery isn't just about training. It reflects physical load, psychological stress, and everything happening outside the gym. The fundamentals, like sleep and adequate rest, do most of the work. Tracking the work completed, how the person responds, and how their performance changes tells us when more support is needed.
The paper also makes an important point: feeling better sooner isn't the same as adapting better over time. Some interventions reduce soreness but blunt the very adaptation we're training for. Whether a strategy helps depends on the person, the timing, and the goal.
I'd add one thing from practice. As people age, or as demands rise, recovery needs to be planned more deliberately and matched to the specific stress we're imposing.
Recovery belongs in the plan from day one. Start with the fundamentals, understand the individual, and let their response guide adjustments. More recovery tools don't automatically mean better recovery.

I've always believed that our athletes teach us far more than we could ever teach them, and these two are living proof. So appreciative of all their support of @CresseySP and all the wisdom they've passed on to me, our staff, their training partners, and the up-and-coming athletes at CSP. I'm also thankful that @FirstLadyofCSP stopped us all in the office one day a few years ago for a picture when I never would've thought to do it.
What a weekend!
