How to think and approach muscle volume (sets) per workout 👇
Replying to @fitcapgirldad
I like 1-2 per movement. 3-5 per muscle/workout.
The less reps you do close to failure,
The more sets you have to do to make up for it
The more reps you do close to failure in a set,
The more fatigue is generated (non-linearly)
The more reps you do to get to a failure zone, the more fatiguing it is
None of this matters much if you can recover before you next session
But to find what's best for you, you find what motivates you the most to work hard and that which you can recover from.
This $100 Recumbent Bike has been an absolute game changer for my daily cardio
I easily get 60 minutes in doing:
- Phone work
- Reading
- Watching TV
It's practically silent so it doesn't wake the kids below if it's early or late
It's easy, just hop on and peddle
Highly recommend it.
Gettin fat on my bday 🎂 🥳 🐷
Ben & Jerry ice cream cakes are ridiculous
Half tonight dough, half salted caramel blonde
Iykyk
Building muscle isn't complicated.
Here's a stupidly simple hypertrophy formula:
1. Take your conservative 10-rep max and hit it for 2 sets of 8 PERFECT reps.
2. Nail all 8 reps on both sets? Add weight next workout.
3. Optionally hit the same muscle again from a different angle. Same protocol. But with just 1 set.
4. Repeat 2–3x per week per muscle group.
That's it.
Stop obsessing over fancy splits, muscle confusion, and junk volume.
Master your reps. Earn your weight increases. Progress relentlessly.
Do that consistently for 6–12 months and growth is inevitable.
Building muscle isn't complicated.
People just love making it complicated because they make money confusing you.
Happy birthday to me 🥳
My new 42nd year philosophy is this:
"Play the game. Win the game"
But first you must do this...

Your Claude is writing you TRASH ads
“Make me 5 ads” and you get the same generic AI slop every brand is already running
That’s not a Claude problem. That’s a you problem.
I wrote a 75 page document that turns Claude into a senior 7 figure creative strategist
Angles, hooks, scripts, statics, landing pages. All of it.
Upload it once and Claude never writes like a robot again
RT + comment “CLAUDE” and I’ll DM it
(Must be following so I can DM)
New rule:
All anon biohacker accounts promoting anabolic steroids must post physique.
why tren acetate and why 5-10mg low dose ?
here's why:
the cope is pinning 100mg daily and frying the central nervous system until insomnia and anxiety override the physique. the variable is receptor occupancy vs systemic spillover.
pinning a massive dose is like slamming a high-pressure hydraulic line into a delicate valve; you blow out the seals instead of running the machinery. 5–10mg via a daily acetate pin is the exact key turned just far enough to engage the receptor without saturating the damage pathways.
the cope is treating all androgens as generic mass builders. the distinction is the binding affinity.
trenbolone acts like a master key welded directly into the ignition lock. it binds to the nuclear androgen receptor (AR) with three times the affinity of testosterone, saturating local skeletal muscle AR complexes to drive myonuclear addition, IGF-1 expression, and satellite cell activation without flooding off-target tissue.
the cope is relying on stimulants for drive and frying your receptors. the variable is central monoamine receptor sensitivity.
this acts like turning off the vacuum cleaners on the factory floor while adding extra receivers to the control room. central AR activation and direct monoaminergic modulation downregulate dopamine transporter (DAT) and norepinephrine transporter (NET) clearance while sensitizing post-synaptic D1 and D2 dopamine receptors, locking in high-density synaptic catecholamine tone for relentless ambition, goal-directed behavior, and zero-effort executive function.
the cope is letting cortisol eat your muscle in a deficit. the mechanism is glucocorticoid receptor (GR) antagonism.
think of it as a physical deadbolt thrown across the demolition crew's door. trenbolone competitively blocks the cytosolic glucocorticoid receptor (GR) and increases 11β-HSD2 activity, shutting down catabolic FOXO transcription and ubiquitin-proteasome protein degradation so every calorie is forced through a strict one-way valve into skeletal muscle instead of visceral fat.
the cope is doing endless cardio to strip fat while losing tissue. the distinction is nutrient partitioning and beta-oxidation.
it is like rewiring the power grid to pull electricity directly from backup generators while upgrading the main plant. simultaneous AR agonism and GR antagonism upregulate beta-adrenergic receptor density on adipocytes to force continuous lipolysis and fatty acid mobilization, while preserving nitrogen balance, intracellular glycogen, and high-octane cognitive throughput.
the variable is micro-dosing the exact receptor threshold to harvest pure neuro-metabolic drive while bypassing the toxicity ceiling.
Buildin a top shelf 🍑
These modified kick backs add more hip abduction and I also sneak in some external rotation
This biases the upper glute
This may ruffle some muscles
But...
It's highly likely many amazing bodybuilders/physiques got their results IN SPITE OF inferior training approaches
There are many levers to pull to optimize results
But it seems that genetics, drugs, and ruthless intensity + consistency will overpower suboptimal approaches
Replying to @BodyRecompExprt
People fail to recognize that most of the top bodybuilders are where they are because of (1) their genetics (2) their use of PEDs (3) their hard work/consistency
The training split doesn’t need to be great because they’ve maxed out every other slider
When that’s not the case…you need to be a little smarter with your decision making to maximize progress
And all your takes above are spot on, Matty 👌🏻

I've noticed that I never see people say "that money could have been used to feed people" whenever Disney spends half a billion dollars on a Marvel movie.
For $200 total I turned my 3rd floor man cave in to a cardio theatre
The recumbent bike and walking pad were just $100 each
It's pretty sweet, I've got a 65" TV infront of it
No excuses for no cardio this winter

About 1.5 years ago, I damaged a nerve, and my left pec and tricep lost a TON of muscle.
I made it my mission to build them back.
That meant I had to specialize.
Here's what I learned along the way...
To specialize a muscle, you must PRIORITIZE it:
1. Train it first in the workout.
2. For compounds, pick a lift where the hardest part of the range loads that muscle.
3. Pick stable movements, so the target muscle fatigue is the limit and not your balance.
4. Try unilateral work. Start with the weaker side and match reps on the stronger side.
5. Skip the junk volume. Extra sets eat into recovery and progress. If you train hard, you don't need more than 15 sets per muscle per week. If you truly train with high intensity, you need fewer.
6. Train it at least 2x a week, and 3x if you can still recover and progress.
7. Use high-stretch movements at least once a week, but don't overdo them. Too much can cause more muscle damage than you can recover from.
8. Standardize your technique so the muscle works where it has the best leverage. Don't cheat with secondary muscles.
9. Find lifts you love that load the muscle. Enjoying a lift makes it easier to push hard.
10. Use anything that boosts performance on that muscle's training days, especially nutrition.
11. Cut anything that hurts performance on those days.
12. If you've been doing high reps on that muscle, switch to lower volume and higher intensity.
13. If you've been going heavy for low reps, run a cycle with lighter loads, a controlled tempo, cleaner form, and about 20% more reps.
14. Track your performance. Once you can get 8 to 10 high-quality, standardized reps across 2 sets, add load and progress.
What tips would you add? 🤔
P.S. In the pic, you can see the asymmetry in my pecs after about 6 months of regrowing. I'll post new progress after this fall and winter mass gain.
