🚨 @AbdulElSayed: At the end of the day, if you want corporate government, you've got corporate government right here. They're going to get rich, and you? You're going to pay the cost.

The job of @neeratanden is to make sure our corrupt system never changes. So, for her to concede that if @AbdulElSayed wins, progressives/populists can win anywhere is a bellwether. If Abdul wins, now everyone agrees, outsider candidates are more likely to win general elections.
BREAKING: @AOC just donated $1 million to help @AbdulElSayed win? Here's why... Question last night to @neeratanden: "If a progressive candidate this year were to win a in a competitive race, like Abdul El Sayed in Michigan, would you consider that to be vindication of the electability of progressive politics?" Neera's answer to @mehdirhasan: "If he wins, it absolutely vindicates that a candidate like him can win there." Boom. Let's win this thing!

In spin room, @MalloryMcMorrow makes clear some of @AbdulElSayed's best economic points in tonight's debate. Tied Mike Rogers to Big Pharma, Iran war that jacked up gas prices, and monetizing his time in Congress with millions of dollars and yachts.

El-Sayed: "He's personally invested in a company that controls the real estate for the Saline data center. I should ask him: If he wants a moratorium, should the construction stop on his personal investment? Because I'd love it to. We need government that is not bought off."

Near-perfect intro from @AbdulElSayed. In one minute and twelve seconds, he ties both Trump and the Iran War around Mike Roger's neck... and connects all three of them to the cost of living crisis.

Dr. Abdul El-Sayed is off to a STRONG start in tonight’s debate. It’s simple: Michiganders deserve a senator who will work to improve their lives and lower costs. Not a rubber stamp for Trump’s reckless policies like Mike Rogers.

Scoop: Former President Obama, when asked about his travel to Michigan for @AbdulElSayed at a fireside chat in Great Falls, Va., with Sen. Lisa Blunt Rochester, defended the decision, according to an excerpt: “I’m going to go to Michigan to campaign for Abdul El-Sayed. And people are like, “Well, he’s really left wing.” But I don’t know, he’s for a higher minimum wage and health care for all, and it doesn’t seem crazy to me. You know, FDR was for that too."

SCOOP @WIRED: Abdul El-Sayed is out with a new paid digital ad in the Michigan Senate race attacking Mike Rogers for helping expand government surveillance, seeking to tap into voter anxieties about tech and Flock cameras weeks before the midterms

Well put. Big endorsement for @AbdulElSayed that frames the race in a productive way.
NEWS —> the Detroit Free Press has endorsed Dr. Abdul El-Sayed: “Everything you’ve heard about Michigan’s U.S. Senate race is true: An extremist is asking voters to send him to Washington, masking an agenda far out of step with Michigan's mainstream under the pretense of normalcy. If elected, this man would urge America down a dark path, changing the shape of our nation, perhaps irrevocably. “But that man is not Abdul El-Sayed. “El-Sayed, the Democratic candidate for Michigan's open Senate seat, is a charismatic public servant with an American-as-apple-pie biography: Born in Oakland County, he’s a former high school football player, a University of Michigan graduate who trained as a doctor and married his college sweetheart. “An unabashed capitalist who champions universal health care, views foreign policy through an America-first lens and believes corporate spending in politics must end, El-Sayed has tapped into voters' frustration with a government that takes more from us, and delivers less.” freep.com/story/opinion/edit…

One battleground Dem talking AI safeguards despite possibility of industry spending against him: Abdul El-Sayed in #MISEN. "I don't really think about that" he told me. "I've been targeted by $100M super PACs before. Good luck. I'd rather be on the truth than dodge their money"
NEW: Dem advisers are warning battleground candidates not to campaign too hard on AI regulations. They fear it could spark industry spending against them. w/@meredithllee @JasonBeeferman @politico politico.com/news/2026/09/17…

.@AbdulElSayed gets it: Data centers have to serve the public interest, not get built on the backs of local communities while Big Tech CEOs cash in. He just laid out five non-negotiable terms of engagement: 1. If it creates jobs, they better be good union jobs. 2. You do not get to raise our utility rates. 3. Take some of that revenue and fix our grid, because right now we lose power every time the wind so much as blows. 4. You do not touch our water. Period. 5. You sit down and negotiate a real, good faith community benefits agreement.

.@AbdulElSayed: "Can you afford your life? Can you afford the things you have to buy every week, every month, every year? If not, ask yourself why. It's because guys like Mike Rogers corrupted themselves at the edge of corporate contributions. $5 million he took throughout his campaigns for Congress. Then he retired to Florida, bought a McMansion and two yachts, and made $14 million advising the same corporations he'd spent his time in Congress regulating. What kind of regulation do you think he actually offered, knowing there was a payday on the back end? I've never taken a dime from those corporations, and I never will. This is politics of the people, by the people, and for the people. And I am serious about taking on the affordability crisis you face."

.@AbdulElSayed: "Think a little bit about why things don't get done in the halls of D.C... Too often, it's because the corporations who pay for campaigns can rig a system so that, regardless of who wins, they're bought and paid for by the same corporations: DTE, Blue Cross, Blue Shield, Big Tech, Big Pharma, all corporations who have donated to my opponent."

Here's some Michigan speak: You voted against a $4.2 billion bill to fund healthcare benefits for 9/11 first responders and victims. You told a first responder — who had part of his foot amputated from an injury at Ground Zero — that his healthcare was a "New York problem." You're a coward and un-American.⁩
9/11 was one of the worst days in American history. The insinuation that I do not support the victims or their families is patently false. In Congress, I proposed and advocated for an annual $150 million appropriation to support the needs of 9/11 survivors and victims’ families. It’s disqualifying that Conman Abdul is using Washington speak about the help Congress provided victims and their families to distract from how he’s platforming someone who believes “America deserved 9/11.”
