AI’s future looks like a library, not a spaceship.
SkB Architects made a two-story library OpenAI’s centerpiece. @o_plus_a designed Slack’s HQ, later occupied by Anthropic. BWArchitects designed the newsstand used for a @claudeai pop-up. @SkBarchitects @o_plus_a @BWArchitects

Eric Schmidt, former Google CEO and current CEO of Relativity Space, says AI will eliminate much of the coordination layer inside large companies.
The 10,000-person company of today could become far leaner, built around inventors, salespeople and leaders.
AI won't just automate tasks. It will redesign the organization.

From childhood prodigy to AI pioneer to Nobel Prize winner, Demis Hassabis has always had a simple plan. Step one, solve intelligence. Step two, solve everything else. 🔗 on.wsj.com/4i0Axoo
We learned to make sand perform Boolean logic. Then we spent eighty years making the switches smaller. But we never proved that switching was the best way for matter to think.

Is the traditional university model breaking down? 📉🎓
Shrinking enrollments, soaring costs, and the rapid rise of AI are forcing a reckoning in higher education. According to a Gallup poll, public confidence is plummeting: only 31% of Americans now say college is "very important," a massive drop from 70% in 2013.
Check out this infographic summarizing Andy Kessler's Oct 4 @WSJ opinion essay. It breaks down the financial warning signs and explains why AI might be the catalyst forcing a radical, long-overdue reinvention of how we learn—shifting from lectures to AI-guided learning and virtual apprenticeships.
👇 What do you think the future of college looks like? Whatever the answer … these higher ed stop AI rallies aren’t going to help the situation.

I highly recommend cloudflare's security audit skill: github.com/cloudflare/securi…
Run it on all your software. Run it with the free models. Use it even if you used a model to audit something - it will find much more things. Works in all agent harnesses and is model independent.
The AI future looks suspiciously like a very expensive library. @OpenAI, @AnthropicAI and the Machine Gods podcast favor wood, books and soft chairs—not spaceships. The room is already making an argument before anyone speaks. @kevinroose
OpenAI commissioned SkB Architects for a roughly 95,000-square-foot San Francisco workplace whose centerpiece is a two-story library. An AI lab puts physical books at the center of its identity.
Anthropic’s 500 Howard Street offices have an overlooked predecessor: Slack. Studio O+A originally designed the workplace. But inherited architecture ≠ proof O+A furnished every Anthropic studio.
Anthropic’s brand identity was shaped by Geist. Mother worked on Keep Thinking. BWArchitects designed Air Mail’s original newsstand. These are separate assignments—not one all-powerful tastemaker.
Machine Gods shares the vocabulary: cream armchairs, dark timber, shelving and intimate conversation. Osmo Studio is credited on its launch film. The permanent studio’s designer is not established.
At Davos, a Claude-inspired clubhouse; in New York, a literary newsstand tied to Graydon Carter. The setting can transfer cultural authority even when it does not improve the product.
The test: does the space make power easier to scrutinize—or merely easier to trust? A library cannot certify model safety. A beautiful podcast room cannot establish governance. The future is being sold inside rooms borrowed from the past.

Today's college kids are tomorrow's enterprise AI users and buyers. The race to capture the college market is key for all SOTA AI labs.

super important honest advice to founders. if you are working on a dead end, get out. you don’t owe that to anyone, including investors (who regularly forgive and experience failure, and ideally care more about you doing your life’s work than a subpar outcome)
Foursquare was acquired last month. The outcome was disappointing. It's taken me a while to write this, but I think I'm finally done grieving it. Here are some thoughts on our final years, an effort to honor the team who helped build & maintain FSQ's legacy, and my attempt to finally get some closure. teendrama.substack.com/p/som…

We're opening Claude Duet today as a research preview, starting with a waitlist. It's our take on giving everyone a trusted partner with your work.
I've been using it for a few weeks, at work and at home. It drafted questions for a fireside chat, watched Slack over the weekend so I could log off, and told me about the new @nealstephenson book — and then ordered it from my local bookstore once I asked.
We've found Opus 5.5 was our first model with the judgment to be proactive in the right ways. Here's what that's looked like.

Tech companies pay millions of dollars for their employees and then stick them in open-plan offices that make it nearly impossible to get work done. Best strategy for poaching employees is probably to just offer them an office with a door.
