“Analytics says go” - Kirk “Well, who do we yell at when they don’t convert?” - Al Baltimore gets the first down then the broadcast crew conveniently leaves out the word “analytics” as the reason why. Perfect encapsulation of why the discourse around football continues to be set back by old geezers on big platforms like this.

The real fun irony here is that the two pitches he uses to different audiences - "you can bet your opinion and win" and "markets are a supremely efficient source of truth" - are in direct conflict with each other.

Chair: they have the same record and we go to head to head result CPM: I notice Alabama is ranked 5 and Tennessee is ranked 13. Chair. They have the same record and we go to head to head result except in this case where we decided to rank the blowout winner 8 spots lower CPM: why is Notre Dame, the number one team in Vegas and all the powet rankings outside your top 10? Chair: they don’t have a win over one of the teams on our top 25 board here CPM: I see Indiana is number 4. I assume they have multiple wins over teams in your top 25. Chair: no they don’t CPM: oh so maybe only one top 25 win? Chair: no, not even one. CPM: thanks!
