How much was the fix in on the gerrymandering report and making sure Albertans never know how it was made? Watch this clip. Danielle Smith sent her very best lapdogs to do exactly what she wanted. Wonder what treats they get now that they did their trick?

Sigh. More grift.
Some pretty wild takeaways from today's electoral boundaries committee meeting: Lethbridge would be split into FOUR ridings instead of its current two urban ones. Three would combine city neighbourhoods with surrounding rural areas. Three urban-rural hybrid ridings are proposed along Calgary's northwest and western edges. Springbank gets split up. Kathleen Ganley questioned why the panel was citing GOLF COURSES to justify its boundaries. Okotoks and Diamond Valley would be split apart, with Diamond Valley paired with Banff. The panel's dissenting members say public submissions overwhelmingly favoured keeping them together. Ganley says Calgary and Edmonton ridings would average 7,000 more residents per MLA than ridings outside those cities. That's a 14 percent difference. The NDP wanted to put its concerns about the maps on the record. UCP MLAs voted 3–2 to end the committee's review before those motions could even be considered. The NDP also wanted taxpayers to know how much the panel and its outside consultants were paid. UCP MLAs voted that down too. Ganley says the panel chair gets an extra $5,000/month on top of regular pay. The UCP says the maps should be debated in the Legislature once they're public. The NDP wanted the committee to scrutinize them now. Meanwhile, Albertans still haven't seen the maps. The report is due November 2. #ableg #abpoli

Alberta needed about 500,000 bottles of children's pain medicine. The order was for 5,000,000. The Health department assessed the Turkish offer. It did NOT recommend proceeding. AHS paid $14 million UP FRONT. Before a single bottle was made. Total order? $70 million. DUE DILIGENCE, Part 4

WOW! The Rath texts are real. Smith colluded with the separatists. Confirmed by Dani in the legislature today. And while she tried to spin them as just answering questions, she also makes it clear the texts weren't meant for Lukaszuk. #abpoli #ableg #cdnpoli

HC system in the worst shape it’s ever been? No open STAFFED beds to flow sick pts through the hospitals? Recurrent predictable respiratory peak demand coming? PURGE and bring in more bureaucratic yes-men with no experience in running a complex HC system! Buckle up AB!
Update re: Acute Care Alberta purge today - A lot of people in one portfolio gone. No clarity on who is covering or who is next to get axed. One official was fired after delivering a report card on hospitals. IMHO the acute capacity data likely did not support last weekend’s announcements re: flu season preparedness… strap in #Alberta this fall may be a rough ride. alberta.ca/release.cfm?xID=9… @TheBreakdownAB @cspotweet

O-KAY! At last!
BREAKING!!! At Nenshi's presser on the UCP's Gerrymandering, it came out that the Ethics Commissioner has had to suspend his investigation into ministers accepting elite hockey tickets... Because it overlaps with a CRIMINAL investigation!

The most honest statement ever made about Cuba policy came from a State Department memo in 1960, written before the sanctions were fully implemented. The memo, written by Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Lester Mallory, stated that the U.S. should pursue a policy to bring about hunger, desperation, and overthrow of the Cuban government. Not: respond to "Cuban repression." Not: protect Cuban human rights. Not: promote democracy. Hunger. Desperation. Overthrow. This memo is declassified. It is in the historical record. It is not disputed. It means that every subsequent year of sanctions, every subsequent citation of Cuban poverty and dysfunction as evidence of socialist failure, every subsequent American official expressing concern for the welfare of the Cuban people: All of it happened downstream of a documented decision to deliberately produce hunger and desperation in that population. This is not a conspiracy theory. It is a declassified government document. The conspiracy was the policy. The theory was written in plain English by an American official in 1960 and has been implemented faithfully for 66 years since. What they wanted to prove, they engineered the conditions to prove. And then they called it evidence.

Why are Albertans still paying the salary of Arundeep Singh Sandhu, a govt staffer, who witnessed our personal voter data being illegally accessed and distributed, and who didn’t bother to report it to the @RCMPAlberta?

The UCP's report justifies gerrymandering by including equity for golf courses. No. For real. To graft parts of Springbank into Calgary, they cite golf courses. Because golf courses need representation more than voters. #abpoli #ableg #cdnpoli

This thread👇 @JMeddings I wonder if ABs would be surprised to learn that over 40% of docs licensed in AB are foreign trained and “immigrants”? Over 5500 docs from other countries Wonder if they would have come if the govt refused their families HC and EDUC for the 1st yr!
I'm going to make a thread of this with my comments. First, lets look at the data on how many MD's Canada has relative to other countries. And I'm interested in decades long changes. In this graph I've gone back to 1960 /1

First @ABDanielleSmith @UCPCaucus stole AISH Fed benefit. They pull in $15M per month on that. Then this govt kicked AISH clients over to ADAP & told them to get a job. Now they ditch DEI…so that these vulnerable Albertans can’t get a job. Cruel, inept, corrupt.

Banning a school from flying a flag that acknowledges a vulnerable community is not going to help you with the cost of living crisis, get you to a doctor sooner, or help your kid land a job. Culture wars & gov over-reach is all the UCP have - on real issues, they have nothing.

prairiesexposed.substack.com… This windfall funding for private schools while public education begs for adequate funding is a slap in the face, a punch in the stomach. Once again, the Danielle Smith UCP govt screams out its contempt for public education. #StopVotingUCP

Cuba has a higher literacy rate than the United States. It has a longer life expectancy than many countries far wealthier than it. It produced a medical system capable of sending doctors to dozens of countries, including some that sanctioned it. It did all of this under 66 years of economic blockade. Now imagine what it might have built without the blockade. The people who imposed the blockade have imagined this too. That is why the blockade continued for 66 years. Not because Cuba was failing. Because Cuba was, in specific and inconvenient ways, succeeding. And a Cuba that succeeded under its own system was more dangerous to the argument than a Cuba that failed. The blockade was not punishment for failure. It was prevention of success.

Merit-based hiring? From the UCP? Are you kidding? Insecure leaders don’t hire competent people. They hire people who won’t threaten their position. The UCP has spent years pushing competent people out and replacing them with political loyalists. Now they want to lecture Albertans about hiring the best person for the job? This is about saving face with a base that has lost confidence in the UCP. With an AGM looming, court cases mounting and RCMP investigations underway, the Premier needs distractions. Meanwhile, governing takes a backseat. Affordability, healthcare and the issues affecting Albertans every day are left unaddressed. This isn’t about competency. It’s about political survival from a government increasingly out of touch. #ucp #alberta #abpoli #ableg #abtory #cdnpoli
The best person for the job should get the job. Period. Today we tabled legislation that would ensure hiring and promotion decisions in the public sector are based on merit, not DEI policies. Mandatory workplace training will be relevant to the roles and responsibilities of the employee, instead of mandatory DEI sessions. Every Albertan deserves a fair shot, and fairness means everyone competes on the same terms.

I've been saying this for years. We need to expand the Four Pillars approach to five: 1. Prevention 2. Harm Reduction 3. Treatment 4. Enforcement 5. HOUSING Because you cannot seriously address addiction, mental health, and public disorder while ignoring homelessness. Housing isn't separate from the solution, it's the foundation!
