Poachers in #Lebanon are exploiting the current security vacuum to target migrating birds.
Our team found this freshly shot Great-white Pelican in addition to 13 shot White Storks.
Despite precarious conditions, our patrols are deterring hunters just by being present.

I am delighted to see the UK’s second free-roaming bison project underway 🦬
A huge team effort to get here—despite significant regulatory barriers. We need to make it simpler and more affordable to scale projects like this.
Much more to do. Onwards.

Absolutely sick to death of hearing about how the new @louistheroux documentary has made people think about attitudes to women. Lots of MPs jumping on the bandwagon. I mean, no disrespect to Louis - I’m grateful for the highlight - but for God’s sake…
Women get killed by their partner every week. Tiny Man Tate has been a thing for years. Domestic violence shelters are overwhelmed. Women have been waving the red flags about incels and attitudes for years. We’ve been begging for change. We’ve been highlighting the serious threat of anti-women social media. Then a MAN makes a documentary and suddenly everyone’s interested? Do you not all think that this might be part of the problem?

It is quite strange to live in one of Europe’s largest wetlands and then worry that it is wet. With climate change, there is no economic feasible way that the Somerset Levels can be maintained in its 20th century state. No amount of river dredging or new pumps is going to stop a wetland metres below sea level in one of the wettest parts of the UK from being wet.
We should decide to give the Marshes of Avalon back to nature gracefully: rehoming and compensating those affected, rather than being forced to do so in the wake of repeated tragedies. Let’s make these rare, precious & irreplaceable wetlands wet again.

Roadside trees near me have been hacked down indescriminantly recently, using the excuse that they are diseased ash trees (many aren't) and/or dangerous (most aren't)

About five times as much land in England that is generating power from solar grows maize for electricity generation in anaerobic digesters. Carbon is being lost from soils under maize & much less electricity is being produced per acre compared with solar. I’d say solar IS better.

Reminder: right now—on Xmas Eve—tens of thousands of delivery drivers are peeing in bottles to meet brutal quotas for one of the most powerful corporations in the world, so the rest of us can get boxes of stuff that’s shittier than ever and only seems cheap because the same corporation crushed competitors and algorithms manipulate its prices. It doesn’t need to be this way. None of this is inevitable.

I can’t begin to tell you how upsetting and disheartening it is to recover a tag that we had fitted to a young White-tailed Eagle just a few months previously, and which had clearly been cut off the bird. This happened twice this autumn and a third bird is also missing.
We're deeply concerned that three White-tailed Eagles have disappeared in suspicious circumstances.
The trackers of two eagles, including a chick from Sussex, were found dumped having been cut off with a sharp instrument.

The continuing efforts of local river guardians to investigate the Cherwell waste dump are really highlighting the utter incompetence of @EnvAgency & their failure to uphold the law.
It now appears that complaints about the rubbish were made by local people as far back as May & the EA actually attended site in July. Having seen the devastation themselves, did they move to shut it down, as they could have done by blocking the site entrance & seeking a simple court order? Nope, they sent the owner of the land a sodding “stern letter” & let the dumping continue until late October! Failing in the same way as they did at Hoad’s Wood shows this is a systemic failure by the EA & needs government intervention.
The investigation didn’t properly start until local river guardians contacted the media this week. Even now, their investigations are bearing more fruit than the EA’s. They guardians have found waste with names & addresses & traced it to the owner, who confirmed they put it in their municipal waste collection. If confirmed this shows the waste is the result of large scale fraud or corruption in the local authority waste management.
Perhaps worst of all, the EA are now denying any duty to clean up the rubbish and plan to just leave it there & “monitor” it. Local river guardians have made a petition demanding a clean up. Please do sign it & support their campaign.

We've been down on the beach today picking up firework debris. It's odd, isn't it, that you can be fined £250 for dropping litter but somehow it's OK to launch rockets containing plastic casings into the sky.

Hard to describe the feeling of satisfaction you get from being a river guardian seeing a sand martin nesting hole you campaigned to be installed being used for the first time.
This morning I witnessed a sand Martin couple moving into their new build, affordable nest in the heart of Barking, & I couldn’t be more proud!
Thanks to @ToureenGroup & @ArteliaUK for taking the time to effort to install these holes during the works on the wall- it really has made a difference for local wildlife.
