The only thing the government can do to make meaningful change for people is amend the tax thresholds, so of course that’s the one thing they don’t do. Whichever government is in power, if you actually go to work their sole focus is to hurt you financially.
He has sat down. So that must mean 1. Income tax thresholds frozen still 2. Student loan Plan 2 threshold still to be frozen in April We will check now, but unless you hear, no news here, fiscal drag (and double fiscal drag for plan 2 students) stays. #Budget2026

Haha! Can't help British born citizens but can ensure you keep throwing money over the wall to that lot. What a broken fucking country.
🚨 NEW: John Healey has announced Ukraine will receive £10bn in additional economic and military support "We called him this morning... he told us we made his day" #Budget

Difficult to sum up the year under Richardson. This season we’ve seen improvements in performances and how he’s evolved into a more likeable character. He’s still extremely lucky to have survived last season, no matter the improvements this season. 6.5/10 year for me #ReadingFC
One year at the helm in RG2. 👏💙

The best thing about Harry Kane is that in an industry that churns out absolute wankers he is just a nice guy who loves his family, works hard at his job and is the best person he can be. Excellent role model.
🚨🚨🎙️| Harry Kane delivers an emotional tribute to his parents, wife and children after winning the 2026 Ballon d’Or! ❤️🏆 To his mum and dad: “What a moment. All those years, the sacrifice you gave me, the support you gave me, the times taking me to training, coming to watch me play, all around England, all around Germany, no matter where it was, even to this day you're there.” “There was never any pressure from you to become a footballer. It was always about working hard, it was always about improving, it was always about learning.” “I love you. Thank you very much.” To his children: “To Ivy, Vivian, Louis and Henry, you're the reason I do this.” “I want to set a good example, being a father, but also being a professional and what it means to work hard, what it means to believe in yourself. I love you very much.” To his wife Katie: “My best friend. We've been through ups and downs, for sure. You're my biggest supporter.” “Here it is. We've done it. You've always done the best for me. You sacrificed yourself to help me achieve my dreams.” “This is a trophy that we celebrate, not me. It's me and you. It's all the family.” “I love you.” ❤️

Income tax thresholds frozen again Never let the word “frozen” mislead you when it comes to tax-free allowances/ thresholds - it is NOT “maintaining the status quo” but is in fact a tax INCREASE for workers Alongside more “support” for non-contributors

Here we go again. Above inflation rise to the minimum wage which will cause even more pressure on businesses and feed into inflation. It will make life even less affordable for the lowest paid. Cue the usual "your business isn't viable if you cant afford to pay a living wage" posts from the terminally thick that would struggle to run a bath, never mind a business or employ people. Here, for anyone that can be bothered to educate themselves even in the slightest, is why the circa 50% rise in minimum wage in the last 6 years has made life less affordable and contributed to the cost of living crisis. Minimum wage employee 2020: Total cost to employer (wages + NI + pension): £18,460 Employee can make 18,460 widgets in a year. Cost per widget (ignoring any other cost or profit): £1 Take-home pay: £15,202 Widgets the employee can afford: 15,202 2027 min wage of of £13.20: Total cost to employer (wages + NI + pension): £29,436 Widgets made in a year (same productivity): 18,460 Cost per widget: £1.59 Take-home pay: £22,050 Widgets the employee can afford: 13,868 They’ve had a 45% increase in take-home pay but can afford 9% fewer widgets. This is why you are worse off. Now factor in other business costs, higher corporation tax, higher energy costs, higher risk from new legislation, maintaining pay differential, etc. etc. etc.. Yet the thick "yOuR bUsInEsS iSnT ViAbLe iF yOu cAnT aFfoRd AnOtHeR 50p" brigade are out in force championing this. Just increase the tax free allowance and reduce spending, for f***s sake. They are just driving businesses off a cliff in the UK.

UK new minimum wage: £27,456 per year. Higher-rate tax bracket: £50,270. 1.8x difference. In 1997 there was a 5x difference. Mind boggling.

Britain’s new minimum wage: £27,456 a year. Higher-rate income tax kicks in at £50,270. Wage compression the Soviet Union could only have dreamed of.

Arsenal whopper still acting like a bellend.
My ability to take the Ballon d'Or seriously vanished when Henry was continuously overlooked for it, but Raya missing out to Simon this year only underlines again how farcical the whole thing can be.

A saving of £21 a year?! Golly gosh, looks like I’d better log in to Legal & General to amend my pension forecasts. Retirement comes early now. Thank you, Andy Pandy.
🚨 NEW: Andy Burnham has announced five "everyday fixes" ahead of the Budget 1. Carer's Allowance will be changed so carers no longer lose their entire benefit when they earn over the limit - instead, their support will reduce by £1 for every extra £1 they earn 2. Import tariffs will be removed on more than 100 products, including baked beans, chocolate and gherkins, to save households up to £21 on their food shop a year 3. Tax-free mileage rates for workers using their own cars will be made permanent at 55p per mile for the first 10,000 miles, with the rate for additional miles rising from 25p to 35p 4. Parental pay will be extended to over 150,000 more parents a year, including self-employed fathers and partners 5. Hundreds more Post Office drop boxes will be rolled out to save people queueing at branches
