This project was a joy to work on while I was with the incredibly talented and thoughtful @DesignStudioPHL
We worked with the City’s Tax Review Board (TRB) and @PHLInnovation to help: ▪️ TRB staff resume hearings (virtually) at the beginning of COVID. ▪️ OIT design a new case management system to support in-person and digital workflows. Learn more ➡️ bit.ly/3MrBnY9

No scientist is in sole possession of the scientific truth. The truth emerges out of free discussion, experiment, and open minds. Why should the public -- which funds science -- not be allowed to witness the process?

every time I see someone comment that a wild animal is “so calm” while being handled rather than “stressed and terrified to the point of immobility” I have to go lie down for a minute

When you're a child, you hear things like, "electric eels exist" and you think, "sure, that's just as new and weird as everything else." As an adult, it's important to revisit such knowledge and think, "oh, wait, this world is absolutely bananas."

A "regret lottery" that will, more than likely, impact the city's income-insecure residents, is so sad to me. Imagine calling a low-income person and telling them they COULD have won 50k, if only they trusted government-pushed medicine more #PhillyVaxSweeps

As a researcher, this 'behavioral research' strikes me as highly unethical. Imagine how devastating it would be for someone to find out they missed out on this money because they made a decision they thought was best for them and their family.

By using the entire city's population and not requiring people to opt in, you effectively remove informed consent.

Unless it’s been burnt, nearly every plastic toothbrush ever made since the 30s is still out there somewhere. These were all picked up from Cornish beaches. #plasticheritage

If a solution can be used in one context and abused in another, you should probably rethink creating it.
ppl out here think ethics in tech is just about using diverse illustrations on their landing page, and not whether their apps can be used as tools of the police state
A friendly reminder that we're about to see an increase in unsustainable packaging. Plastic is not as recyclable as many people think. Choose products that are packaged with paper, cardboard, glass, or aluminum...which may mean making your own cocktails.
