Happy 59th birthday to Courtney Thorne-Smith!
Few talk-show appearances have aged as hilariously as her legendary exchange with Norm Macdonald about CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD. 😂🎂

In 1973 an archaeologist digging at Vindolanda, a Roman fort in northern England, found something that wasn't supposed to survive. It was a pile of thin wooden slivers, about the size of a postcard, covered in faded ink.
They turned out to be letters. Hundreds of them, written by Roman soldiers and their families around 100 AD, before Hadrian's Wall was even built. They survived 1,900 years because they'd been dumped in wet, airless ground where nothing could rot them.
What do Roman soldiers on the edge of the empire write about? The same stuff soldiers have always written about.
One soldier gets a care package and a note telling him it includes socks, two pairs of sandals, and two pairs of underpants. Somebody back home was worried he was cold. Northern England will do that to you.
A cavalry officer named Masclus writes to his commander asking for orders for the next day. Then he adds a P.S.: his men have run out of beer, and could the commander please send some.
A supply contractor complains that the roads are so bad he doesn't want to risk his animals on them, and he's waiting on money he's owed. Logistics have always been a nightmare.
One report sizes up the locals. The writer notes the Britons have no armor, that they have lots of cavalry, and that they don't mount up to throw javelins. Then he calls them "Brittunculi." Roughly "little Brits." It's a Roman insult, and it's the only time that word has ever been found anywhere.
But the most famous one is a birthday invitation.
A woman named Claudia Severa writes to her friend Sulpicia Lepidina, the commander's wife at Vindolanda, inviting her to her birthday party on September 11. A scribe wrote most of it. At the bottom, Claudia added a few lines in her own hand, telling her friend she'll be waiting for her and calling her "my dearest soul."
That scrawl at the bottom is believed to be the oldest surviving example of handwriting by a woman in Latin.
Two officers' wives at the end of the known world, a long way from Rome, trying to get together for a birthday.
The tablets are now at the British Museum. In 2003 the British public voted them the country's top treasure.

Not to alarm anyone, but to raise awareness and encourage preparedness for what could be an exceptionally stormy winter across California.
As the late, great Rea Strange of Pacific Weather Analysis often said, one of the most reliable indicators of a wet weather pattern for California is the development of strong, persistent upper-level westerlies stretching across the North Pacific Ocean.
In my more than 35 years of forecasting weather along California's Central Coast, I've learned to pay particular attention when upper-air charts and numerical weather models indicate the development of a powerful, persistent Pacific jet stream. In fact, I consider this one of the most important atmospheric indicators of a potentially wet and stormy winter for California, especially during a very strong El Niño condition.
The latest projections from the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF) suggest that an exceptionally powerful subtropical jet stream could develop across the Pacific Ocean and extend across much of the United States this winter and into early spring.
Remarkably, these projections indicate the potential for record-strength subtropical jet-stream winds extending from California to Florida.
If these long-range ECMWF projections verify, we could be looking at a remarkably active winter storm pattern, with the potential for well-above-normal precipitation across portions of California, particularly from late December through January, February, and March.
Of course, there is an important distinction between favorable atmospheric conditions and actual rainfall. These are long-range projections, not guarantees. Even during powerful El Niño events, California's precipitation can vary considerably depending on the position of the jet stream/storm tracks and other atmospheric influences.
Nevertheless, the potential development of such an unusually strong and persistent Pacific jet stream is a significant atmospheric signal that deserves our attention.
My message is not one of alarm, but of awareness and preparedness. Now is an excellent time to clear drainage systems, inspect roofs and gutters, review emergency plans, and prepare for the possibility of an unusually wet and stormy winter.
Please visit ReadySLO.org for preparedness, emergency, and recovery information.
I'll continue closely monitoring the upper-air patterns and numerical weather models as we approach the heart of California's rainy season.
Special thanks to meteorologist Ben Noll for sharing this ECMWF analysis and highlighting the potential significance of this developing atmospheric pattern. – at Los Osos, CA
New ECMWF data shows the *strongest subtropical jet stream* in its forecast history blowing across the Pacific and U.S. this winter into next spring, with record-strength winds predicted from California to Florida.
There's even a connection to Europe.
El Niño fuels more thunderstorms near the equator, which release heat high into the atmosphere.
That extra warmth strengthens the Hadley circulation and steepens the temperature gradient between the tropics and the mid-latitudes, which strengthens the subtropical jet.
And that's why such a stormy winter is anticipated across the western, southern and eastern United States.

Tucker absolutely cooked yesterday. He’s been vindicated by the betrayal he and Charlie endured.
He dunks on Mike Rogers, Fox News, and yes TPUSA.
I have this in the clip, and probably should have created two, but once Tucker starts, can’t stop it. He cooks Jared Kushner and Howard Lutnick at the end so enjoy.
Take it away Tucker:

Joe Rogan just hosted his most important episode ever after Republicans lost the midterms as White House insider Calley Means just exposed the real people who are running Trump’s presidency and lists key inner circle names like Susie Wiles, Jame Blair, Richard Walters, and the most powerful lobbying firm known as Ballard Partners:
MEANS: “Susie Wiles is the most powerful chief of staff in modern American history. She has taken a stranglehold on any policy decision. No policy decision gets done without her office giving it the okay. She was one of the top lobbyists in the country. It is impossible to describe to you how demonic this culture is.”
CONTEXT: Means, who resigned from the administration in OCTOBER, says he witnessed an extraordinary concentration of power inside the White House.
He alleges that cabinet secretaries and senior officials spent enormous amounts of time attempting to win favor with Wiles' office because of its influence over which policies could advance.
He then identifies several people he believes were central to that power structure:
SUSIE WILES: White House chief of staff.
JAMES BLAIR: A longtime Trump political strategist and former deputy White House chief of staff.
RICHARD WALTERS: Deputy White House chief of staff and longtime Republican political operative.
WALKER BARRETT: Senior White House adviser with extensive congressional experience.
But the most consequential part of his accusation concerns the CORPORATE LOBBYING INDUSTRY.
Before entering Trump's White House, Wiles had a career representing corporate clients, including working at the influential Washington lobbying firm BALLARD PARTNERS.
And the money involved in that industry is staggering.
According to federal lobbying disclosures, Ballard Partners collected approximately $88 MILLION in lobbying revenue during 2025, more than QUADRUPLING its reported revenue from 2024.
That made Ballard one of the highest-earning lobbying operations in Washington.
And in MAY 2025, the watchdog organization Public Citizen identified SIX FORMER WILES CLIENTS that had reported lobbying White House offices during the administration's first three months.
Those clients included companies involved in tobacco, automobiles, fertilizer, and other major industries.
The White House disputed suggestions of improper influence and said Wiles generally did not participate in meetings or decisions involving former clients.
Those disclosures establish real corporate lobbying relationships.
They do NOT, by themselves, prove that Wiles improperly favored those companies or directed policies for their benefit.
But Means argues that the broader culture of Washington is precisely what Trump promised to confront.
Now consider the extraordinary political timing.
IMPORTANT NOTES: On NOVEMBER 3, Democrats won control of BOTH CHAMBERS OF CONGRESS in a sweeping midterm defeat for Republicans.
And TODAY, NOVEMBER 6, Trump announced that Susie Wiles will leave the chief-of-staff position, with Stephen Miller taking over on November 9.
Trump PRAISED Wiles for her service and said she would continue working for his political operation.
