It is Nov. 25.
It is the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women.
It is the first day of #16DaysOfActivism for #MVAWG & #GBV.
It is the first day of our #RememberMe campaign.
Below are some of the names of the women & girls we remember in 2024. Some remain invisible.

The Doctor Dad Complex ™️ is a very often ignored part of co-parenting with an abuser.
He'll use his parental rights to force medical neglect of the child.
Then he'll gaslight the family court about it. If you've seen this, you'll know what I'm talking about.
Here's what happens:

No, it's not insane. It's male violence against women.
#Femicide happens every other day in this country and has for decades.
No government has been responsive.

"It is rooted in a sense of ownership & entitlement, a sense of possessiveness that happens in terms of socialization."
Yes, which is why we #CallItFemicide.
'Familicide' very rarely happens without warning signs, say domestic violence researchers

Van de Velde arrives in Paris, reports say chaperoned by armed police in anticipation of an angry reception. If only his victim was afforded such protections. Silly me, that’s just for convicted child rapists who believe they have a right to be Olympian role models…

Our community is saddened to hear of the passing of one of the great ones, Evan Stark. He wrote about coercive control to end it in 2009 & just graced us w his powerful work on children. Between these books he spoke, shared and saved lives. So many of us are eternally grateful.

I'm very sad to learn that Dr Evan Stark has passed. His legacy in the domestic violence movement is immense. He developed the framework for what we now call Coercive Control & spent his life side-by-side with women fighting for better protections from male violence & control.💔

This happened yesterday in Oshawa,Ont. Judge Finlayson wrote an indefinite court order to remove a 4yr old child from the only home he has ever known. He’s been ordered into the custody of an abusive father. Check out DV_Survivors_Canada's video! #TikTok vm.tiktok.com/ZM68dv2gn/.

The proposed legislation does not go far enough. You need to get it right in order to protect women & children from this horrific form of abuse including post-seperation & economic abuse @Laurel_BC @viraniarif

My Private Members Bill is up for debate in the House today.
We must expand protections for people in abusive intimate partner relationships and ensure there are legal rights for survivors.
I urge all parties to support my Bill and protect survivors.

The courts continue to fail women & children in situations of family violence. Our lives matter. Keira’s life mattered. @KatrinaCBurnaby - Thank you for your leadership on #KeirasLaw in British Columbia. Change cannot come soon enough
November is #DomesticViolence Awareness Month, but so many are living in unsafe situations+need help now.
You may say: “call 911.” But very few reports result in a protection order. Only 10% sexual assaults result in a conviction.
Apathy is our #1 enemy. We need changes NOW 💛

So proud that we have finally coined a new term to capture the experience of mothers whose child-parent relationships are undermined by abusive exes: Child and Maternal Sabotage (CAMS). Read the article here: shera-research.com/latest-ne…

How could SO many women be crazy? The tropes in family court lead to a devastating institutional betrayal. Thank you to @SZaccour, @jjfreydcourage , Sandra Ross and “Diana” for your help with this article. As always a huge thank you to @MsMagazine ! 🙌

PSA for anyone hiding a secret phone from their abuser in the U.S
#domesticviolence

ALT On Oct 4 @ 12:20pm MST a nationwide test of the emergency alert system will take place. This might be a concern for anyone hiding a secret phone from their abusers. Some phones have settings to turn off so as not to receive these alerts. Otherwise you can turn your phone off at this time or put it on airplane mode

Abusive fathers are more than 2X as likely to seek sole custody of their children than non-abusive fathers. Courts award these fathers joint or sole custody 70% of the time.
Would you leave a violent person if it meant leaving your kids behind with them?

#ParentalAlienation pseudoscience is doing severe harm worldwide to #ProtectiveParents (mostly #ProtectiveMothers) & children in #FamilyCourt where it is being used (mostly) as a weapon to put children in custody with #Abusers & #CoerciveControllers . Please sign the petition!

“Women have a past, men have a potential” - as said on @clementine_ford podcast.
Isn’t that grossly true in courts?
Always giving men the benefit of the doubt - “he’s always been a good guy to me”. The exact reason why we have no justice in our justice systems.
