I commend Mr. Nicolas A. Tamari, CEO of Sucafina, one of the world’s leading coffee trading companies, for his continued confidence in Uganda and his vision to expand investment in coffee value addition for export through UGACOF.
Uganda must move beyond exporting raw coffee beans to processing, roasting, packaging and marketing premium Ugandan coffee globally.
This is the future of our coffee industry—creating jobs, increasing export earnings, empowering farmers and positioning Uganda as a global powerhouse in value-added coffee.
From Ugandan soil to the world’s finest coffee markets!

NEC TO BUILD NEW NaCORI COFFEE RESEARCH FACILITY
Government today, 22 October 2026, officially handed over the construction site for a new research and management facility at the National Coffee Research Institute (NaCORI) in Kituza, Mukono, marking a significant milestone in strengthening Uganda’s agricultural research capacity.
The Minister of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries, Hon. Frank Tumwebaze, presided over the groundbreaking ceremony and handed over the site to the contractor, National Enterprise Corporation (NEC).
Eng. Brian Buhanda, General Manager of NEC Construction Works and Engineering Ltd (NEC Works), represented NEC Managing Director, Lt. Gen. James Mugira, at the event.
The facility, being developed for the National Agricultural Research Organisation (NARO), is expected to enhance coffee research, support the development of improved and resilient coffee varieties, and promote innovative farming technologies to benefit farmers across Uganda.
With extensive experience in delivering public infrastructure projects, NEC Works brings strong engineering expertise, efficient project management, and a commitment to quality and timely delivery. Its cost-effective approach to construction also supports the efficient use of public resources without compromising quality.
The new facility is expected to strengthen NaCORI’s research capabilities and contribute to increased coffee productivity, improved farmer livelihoods, and the continued growth of Uganda’s coffee sector
