Chicago: Reminder that the CCPSA is kicking off listening sessions to gather feedback on the CPD superintendent search to replace Larry Snelling.
First one is tonight at Malcolm X.
I believe that if you see a problem, you don't stand on the sidelines—you step up and do something about it. That's why I’m running for alderman of Chicago's 44th Ward.
I've served my country in the Air Force, built a career in publishing and real estate, and devoted myself to greater accountability and transparency in Chicago through my non-profit, Chicago Deserves Better.
Along the way, I've met Chicagoans who love this city but are frustrated that too often their voices go unheard.
I'm running because the 44th Ward—my family’s home for the past 15 years—deserves strong leadership that listens, responds, and puts residents first. We need safer streets, cleaner neighborhoods, support for our seniors, better access to public transportation, responsible development, and an alderman's office that is accessible and responsive to everyone—not just those with connections.
I invite you to follow my official campaign account @FriendsofDJ to keep up with the latest updates or go to our website (link below).

I’m at city council today waiting
For @RaymondALopez to exercise rule 41 and force our resolution putting the creation of a city charter commission out of the rules committee and on the March 2026 ballot for voters to decide.

Not surprised.
This is punitive deterrence.
Mr. Vallas is being punished for having the temerity to challenge the dysfunctional status quo and the ruling is also designed to deter any upstart campaigns intending to challenge a system owned by public union leadership.

Please reach out to your Alderman and encourage them to join ours and @RaymondALopez efforts to get this onto the ballot so that the people can decide. There are 38,640 (signatures gathered so far) reasons for them to make this a reality.

Spot on!!
Eileen O'Neill Burke today after a Chicago cop was killed by a man on EM with four pending violent felonies:
"Electronic Monitoring system is broken. It does not work. It does not keep people safe."
SA O'Neill Burke gets it. This is why crime has dropped 22 percent in Chicago. Until the EM program is dismantled and progressives are removed from the bench, residents of Chicago will continue to be at the mercy of violent criminals.
It's a sad poll. Is this really the BEST group of people that Chicago has to offer its citizens to lead this city?
THREE SIMPLE WORDS...
CHICAGO DESERVES BETTER

How many people have to die as a direct result of judges releasing violent criminals under the SAFE-T Act before we admit this law is failing? These are preventable tragedies that occur when known risks are ignored and dangerous monsters are put back on the streets.
There should be accountability when decisions repeatedly endanger the public. Judicial immunity was never meant to shield outcomes that put innocent people at risk. If public safety is not the first priority, then the system is broken, and it must be fixed. We need legislation aimed at holding judges accountable when they disregard the safety of law-abiding citizens in favor of being empathetic to those whose actions have demonstrated they are a danger to the public.
I'm calling on the Illinois General Assembly to introduce the Michael Altman Public Safety Accountability Act to hold judges accountable.
A Rogers Park man is charged with murder and arson in connection with the fire that killed a Chicago firefighter in Rogers Park.
He's the 4th person charged with killing or trying to kill someone in Chicago this year while on felony pretrial release.

I was at an event recently where a representative from Choose Chicago said point blank that the reason that they were asking for an additional 2.5% hotel tax was because the city regularly pilfered from their budget to fund other things. How about we stop stealing from budgets intended for one thing to fund something else?
Just a thought.

This is such a sad but preventable story. Chicago’s recent leaders—or lack thereof—have done more damage than good by focusing more on ideological issues than on bread-and-butter operational ones.
Chicago truly deserves better, and a good first step would be for the City Council to authorize the creation of a City Charter Commission to draft a proper City Charter (constitution).
We have worked with @RaymondALopez to submit an ordinance with 24 co-sponsors to accomplish just that.
Join us, put Chicago’s future ahead of petty politics, and let’s get this done!

The irony of this picture is it reflects the local DSA arrogance toward real experience.
Anthony, a appointed alder, with little real world business experience, talks back to a man with years of restaurant experience.
When your wondering what's wrong with Chicago..consider this dynamic.
