Moving to Diaspora 🇬🇧 I thought this would help many before they leave in whatever way. If you are moving to Diaspora on a COS, it is important to leave alone. It is not advisable to take your whole family at once. There are many things to take into consideration. Finding accommodation, child care & and part-time jobs being the most draining part of having a family with you. Most people on COS, especially health workers, have very few hours but very long days. It's important to let your employer know when you are available. Don't just say yes to any hours & days thrown at you because when you child/children come it will be hard to change your days off & have time with your family. Sometimes, it's best to do 20 hours per week on your COS & the rest part time. Cash in hand is always good... those 20hrs you won't get taxed on either because it's below the threshold. If the wife is coming over on a COS & your husband doesn't have many qualifications, I would suggest you get him to do some short courses. HACCP level 3 is good to have for cash in hand jobs, HGV license is a real good one.... night shift drivers can clock £200/250 night & also this will help with fewer hours to have family time. Stay in a shared house until you have saved up enough money for a deposit for a 2 bed flat & have enough for flights & atleast another 3 months rent. Don't move out of the shared house until your husband has a job. You won't get a house on your wage anyway. It would need to be combined & he would need to be permanent. It won't take long to find a job & you will be out of the shared house in no time. To all the men who's wives got them here in the first place! Respect that, in UK there is NO HEAD OF THE HOUSE! You cook, you clean & you do the laundry. If you think your village mentality will work here it won't. Your wife will leave you once all that pressure mounts up & realises she did it all for nothing. Child care is the most expensive of the lot. If you think you can both work full-time jobs well, it ain't going to happen. It's £900/£1000 per month easy!!!! Don't get a MONZO account, a proper highstreet bank is the way to go. Get a blue light card, that will give you a discount for all major retail stores. This is limited to profession. Your first car should only cost you £300 to £500 run it I to the ground. Make sure you come with that extra money. Don't expect to get it while working & paying for accommodation. Don't go having babies if you cannot afford to support them. This will put pressure on your marriage. Don't send money home to Zimbabwe until you can afford it. Never rely on anyone else to do anything for you. Especially family members if you have any. They are far to busy themselves to look after you. Buy a coat for atleast £200 min & a pair of boots minimum £200 also. This will help you enjoy the cold.... the cold ain't bad at all along as you dressed properly. Thermals also help.... to many layers doesn't work. TO BE CONTINUED......
