Australia doesn’t have an intergenerational equity crisis it has a wealth generation CRISIS across all generations - caused solely by high taxes, high regulation and high government spending! #auspol

Australia’s persistent inflation and falling real incomes show the Albanese government needs a circuit breaker. But as economics editor John Kehoe writes, changing course would mean acknowledging its own policy failures. afr.com/policy/economy/labor…

We now have the world’s highest tax on investing, a 70% tax rate on gains! It shrinks our economy, innovation and wages. It hurts young & poor people the most. Podcast below explains why. Please retweet, encourage friends to watch it and do the same👇 share.google/HonDd9NgUdPesCf…

Victoria’s Department of Health has approximately 342,200 taxpayer funded employees. That’s double the amount of the next biggest State NSW Ministry of Health that has approximately 170,700 taxpayer funded employees. Tasmanian Department of Health being the smallest, with 16,000 employed. So tell me why Victoria, with the biggest Government Health workforce in Australia, has the highest excess deaths and lowest birth rate per capita in the country?

I still can’t decide whether Chalmers is a 1: a brilliant Machiavellian thinker who deliberately constructed the 2026 Budget to quickly finish off Albo as PM, 2: A complete moron, 3: Both 1 and 2. I lean towards 3, he’s both!
Chalmers economic bombs include the world’s highest investing tax at a 70% rate, making direct share investing untenable. He’s so stupid he doesn’t even realise what he’s done! He then implies its other Ministers’ fault Labor’s brand has been torched, and he should be PM!

Well said by economic guru Chris Richardson. Government decisions have added at least $103 bn to our net debt. Chalmers incorrectly claims higher commodity prices (iron ore) that have improved our tax receipts v 2022 forecasts, Labor is responsible for! The lies know no bounds!
PANTS ON FIRE? “We’ve found a further $63.8 billion in savings and reprioritisations, taking the total since coming to government to almost $180 billion” So said the government in the last budget That claim – that the government has saved $180 bn since first elected in 2022 – isn’t what the official figures say: · Those numbers (contained in the budget papers in what I call the Table of Truth) actually say the cumulative cost to the budget of government decisions since first elected has been $103bn – as seen in the chart here · That’s the net of decisions to increase spending (at $142bn) and decisions to increase taxes (at $39bn) · Or, to put that gently, the official figures say the exact opposite of what the government claims – its decisions have made the budget worse, not better Of course all politicians put the best possible spin on their actions. But this particular one gets way too much airplay Notably, the official estimate of a net $103bn worsening in the budget due to policy decisions is about the most flattering possible way to measure what has actually occurred For example, it excludes the costs shifted off-budget And it excludes the cost of decisions that are government policy, but weren’t decided on by Cabinet. That means the (much needed) lift in wages for child and aged care workers isn’t counted as a cost attributable to the government, but rather to the Fair Work Commission To be clear, all politicians kick dust into the air like this But we need to judge them on their actual track record, not on what they say that track record is …

Absolutely pathetic leadership from the Prime Minister. He’s attacking the RBA. He should attack himself. Govt spending at 40 year highs.

Dear @JEChalmers , if it was the war causing inflation here, why has the USA only had 2 rate rises, Canada 2 rate rises, New Zealand has had none, and the UK has had one. Why have we had 5 this year and 17 under your Treasury???? #auspol

If only we’d built nuclear plants instead of Snowy Hydro 2. Even in the worst case scenario where Bowen compares it to Hinkley C Nuclear Plant that will be an about a 3x cost increase, a lot better than a 12x blowout for a battery. Hinkley C will produce 7% of the UK’s electricity from just 2 reactors for over 60 years. At more realistic CSIRO prices you could have built 5 large nuclear reactors for the up to $50bn price tag of Snowy Hydro 2 (including transmission lines). It’s worth reminding ourselves that the one reactor Australia did build recently, the OPAL research reactor, was basically on time and on budget.

Is this true or false? “Hitting back at the Treasurer’s declaration Australia was a “leading international investment destination”, @GeoffWilsonWAM argued the @AlboMP government had “squandered” the country’s opportunities and could not “credibly claim to be building a stronger economy”. “The recent tax changes punish investment, undermine confidence and send a clear message to capital: ‘Take your money elsewhere’ ”” @australian #StoptheCGTtoGetAhead #JoinWARonCGT

If you don’t put @VictorianLabor last on preferences in upcoming Victorian election, you must not care at all about Victorian children.
New analysis reveals that Victoria's interest bill, which topped $7.9 billion last financial year, already exceeds spending on roads, emergency services and public transport. ebx.sh/DaKWO3

It’s unravelling @JEChalmers @AlboMP with worse to come. I wish to remind you that you inherited an unemployment rate of 3.8% from the LNP in 2022 & will soon tick over 5% thanks to your anti business & wealth destroying economic policies. In fact, today’s Labour force data could have been much worse if not for a 0.3% fall in the participation rate (which measures the percentage of the working age population that is either currently employed or actively looking for work). Without the fall in the participation rate the unemployment rate would have jumped from 4.6% in August to 5% in September.

Labor’s new tax on trusts bill is being introduced to parliament - which they claim is about making business owners pay the same tax as employees. This ignores the fact that business owners put their own cash on the line, carry risks employees don’t and only get paid if anything is left over. They carry high accounting costs, pay property taxes, pay payroll tax for the privilege of hiring employees, pay employees who pay income tax and often end up with GST debts without any income of their own to show for it. If you can’t recognise that the risk, reward and contribution of a business owner is fundamentally different that of an employee, you shouldn’t be leading the country.

Great pod Chis 👊 Must-watch. Chris Joye lays out the real damage: $660bn extra debt since 2022, ballooning public sector, collapsing productivity, and a recession we didn’t have to have. His fix is the one politicians won’t touch claw back the overfunded Future Fund, slash spending (including NDIS), pause the migration surge until housing/infrastructure catch up, and stop taxing aspiration to fund an ever-growing bureaucracy. This is the economic vandalism debate Australia needs. Listen 👇 #StoptheCGTtoGetAhead #JoinWARonCGT
