“ARE THEY GOING TO LISTEN TO INDEPENDENTS?” — Open Primaries founder & president @jbopdycke talks with @NewsNation on how independents will determine the midterms and what the response should be.

Our prez/founder @jbopdycke tells @NewsNation ➡️ “@Officiallymcco is just one of…thousands of leaders and organizations grappling with the question of how do we get the voice of the 48 percent, the independent voice, into the political conversation in this country?”

Matthew McConaughey said it best: Independents don’t just have leverage, they are the leverage. Congress is more divided than ever before, and with razor-thin margins, a few true Independents can bring power back to the middle — where most Americans live their lives.
My daughter Heather and I started the Independent Leadership Council because the two major political parties have lost the plot. To them, it’s not about public service anymore — it’s about party loyalty and pushing extreme agendas that aren’t addressing the problems Americans are facing in their everyday lives.
I appreciate @McConaughey speaking up for Independent Americans and bringing attention to the opportunity we have to choose a third path this November. Visit independentleadershipcouncil… to learn more and to declare your independence today. @Independent_LC

530A accounts ("Trump Accounts") are a great solution for many ultra-wealthy Americans who are philanthropically inclined, do not want a foundation staff, do want to give while living, and haven't been inspired by existing nonprofits. It's an American version of “GiveDirectly."

Bryan Stevenson, founder and executive director of the Equal Justice Initiative, says foundations’ retreat from racial equity commitments is part of a long arc, on the latest episode of the Giving Done Right podcast from the Center for Effective Philanthropy (@CEPData).

Nikki Haley: “There are certain decisions that will go down as history-defining moments. This is one of them. It's a terrible misjudgment of Putin, who has made it clear he wants to destroy the West. We shouldn't help him do it.”
Mitt Romney: “Do we prize liberty or do we prize power and purse? No more clear test than the choice between Ukraine and Russia. Abandon Ukraine and we abandon liberty. Eventually even our own.”
Thom Tillis: “Beyond irresponsible. What part of enforcing a law passed 86-11 by the Senate does the President and his advisors not understand? It’s unconscionable that this administration is capitulating to a Russian dictator who illegally invaded Ukraine and butchers innocent civilians every single day. If the President wants to actually bring down energy prices, he can do it by solving the Iran problem, not by doing a solid for Vladimir Putin.”
Laura Loomer: “Putin’s goal is to take Ukraine. Then he will take Poland, Latvia, Lithuania, and he will make his way through all of Europe. People obsess over personalities too much. You could have an election in Ukraine tomorrow and Putin would still find a reason to be at war. Russia INVADED Ukraine. Not the other way around. Zelenskyy’s removal from office won’t stop Russian imperialism. It’s not about Zelenskyy. It’s about Putin. It’s always been about Putin.”
John Cornyn: “Helping Putin in Ukraine is reckless. He would not stop with Ukraine and our NATO allies would be next. Putin is fanatically committed to restoring Russia’s glory days, calling the collapse of the Soviet Union ‘the greatest geopolitical catastrophe of the century’ and claiming Russia was ‘robbed’ in the breakup. . . Congress Must Investigate Trump’s Aid and Comfort to Putin.”

🚨🇺🇦🇺🇸 Zelensky on Trump:
"I hope that Trump will change his decisions, because I think they are ALL mistakes.
It will not help us, and it won't help the U.S."
For Ukraine, these aren't abstract political decisions. They affect families, cities, soldiers, and the future of an entire nation.
Zelensky's warning deserves to be heard with the seriousness those consequences demand.

The trend this year continues – since the start of fall, our warriors have liberated more territory than the Russians have managed to capture. The same was true at other points this year. We continue to press the Russians at the front.
Dobropillia, Kostiantynivka, Oleksiievo-Druzhkivka, Orikhiv, Novopavlivka, Novoandriivka, and Velykomykhailivka are all under Ukrainian control. We are also defending the areas near Kramatorsk and destroying Russian forces 20 kilometers from Zaporizhzhia, not 5, as someone over there in Russia is snowing Putin.
Our front is strong, and I thank every warrior and every one of our units that is carrying out its tasks in full.

Admiral McRaven: "Our current leaders are shameless and ignoble. They have no sense of dignity or honor. They seem to believe that the performance of curel power is what makes a nation great: the spectacle, the show, the crude theatrics of a tough guy. Nothing could be further from the truth."

The horrific allegations coming out of Cornell, of a young woman assaulted at a fraternity party while others looked the other way, should stop every one of us in our tracks.
It's on all of us, as fathers, brothers, friends, and teammates, to have the courage to speak up, to step in, and to hold institutions accountable.
Leaders have to set that standard, and I will.

This is a great story (below). The Runnin Down a Dream Foundation is actively searching for more partnerships. Please reach out through [email protected].
I cold-emailed @bgurley’s Runnin’ Down a Dream Foundation as soon as its website went live.
I’d started the Woihanble Fund, which gives young entrepreneurs on the Pine Ridge Reservation grants to start and grow businesses. Woihanble means “dream” in Lakota. The overlap felt pretty obvious.
That email became a partnership. They sent books for our cohorts, and one of our grant recipients was also selected for their first grant cohort.
Pretty special to see someone you’ve backed get support from someone you’ve looked up to.
