On your marks. Get set.
It’s almost time to #runwiththemarines and the @Marine_Marathon
Sunday morning will be cold and calm. By Sunday noontime it’ll be in the low-60s. Good luck to all the competitors from this 8X finisher of this wonderful event.

UPDATE: NC12 is still closed from Marc Basnight Bridge to Rodanthe, and about 800 feet of pavement has now been damaged by forces from the offshore nor'easter. Please stay safe. Avoid travel on NC12 on Pea Island. For travel updates, check DriveNC.gov.
Currently residing in "The 5 guys free zone" I would consider moving back to "The Braum's Enclave". Those shakes and burgers are so good.
On this map @joshuabarzon predicts what happens once the US government collapses. We see the country split into various little empires each ruled by a fast food chain. Not an unlikely scenario I must say…

Ocean overwash at high tide on Pea Island this afternoon. NC12 is still closed from Marc Basnight Bridge to Rodanthe.
Today will be our 4th day in a row without rain and our 10-day forecast remains completely rain-free. If we get to 14 dry days in a row, it'll be the 2nd longest run of dry days this year.
Sunny and mild today with highs very close to average. @nbcwashington
One of my favorite events each year. The 51st @Marine_Marathon is this coming Sunday and the weather will be cooperative. Yes, it WILL be a cold start. But the wind will be light and the sun will be shining all day. Have a plan to stay warm in the staging area and go for a PR

This is Pea Island on Highway 12 around 5 PM. An hour later it closed due to overwash. Touch and go for the next couple of days with each high tide. The mandatory evacuation for visitors continues on Hatteras/Ocracoke Islands as all ferry service remains suspended.
@NCDOT_NC12
Good morning. 100% sunshine and exactly 11 hours of daylight to enjoy on this Tuesday. Highs near 70° this afternoon will be only 2° above average. Our stretch of dry weather is going to last all the way into, and through, the upcoming weekend. @nbcwashington

From 80’s to snow.
More snow! ❄️ Here's another look at yesterday's snowflakes flying across the North Carolina mountains above 5,000 feet!

Hurricane #Isaías upgraded to Category 3 #majorhurricane and still on track to land on the Florida panhandle this evening. All storm preps being rushed to completion.
7:20 AM CDT Friday Oct 9 Update: Isaias becomes a major hurricane. Data from an Air Force Reserve hurricane hunter aircraft indicate that the maximum sustained winds have increased to 120 mph. Isaias is now a category 3 hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Wind Scale. Follow the latest at hurricanes.gov
Such great pictures of the Nation's Capital. If you like having an old-school calendar give this a look.
I created three D.C. calendars for 2027. My usual Seasons of Washington calendar, a new Storms of Washington calendar, and a Best of Stumpy calendar.
Calendars are available on my dcstormchaser website and on the Capital Weather store. I'll include links in the comments.

Hurricane #Isaías will make landfall on the Florida panhandle this evening. Hardest hit will be Pensacola to Panama City. That heavy, tropical rain will be here in the DMV first thing Sunday morning and last all day. 1.5"-2.5" likely. Use the dry time today, tomorrow to prepare.

Can't stop watching the lightning within Hurricane Isaias.
Just a phenomenal view from space.

A milder morning will lead to a warmer afternoon. Highs near 80° today. #Isaias became a #hurricane overnight and poses a significant risk to the Gulf Coast between Biloxi, MS and Pensacola, FL Friday evening. We're sunny today & tomorrow, cloudy on Sat. and rainy on Sunday.
