Back in October 2022, Elon didn't just call for peace. He actually proposed a peace plan involving UN-supervised votes in occupied regions, recognizing Crimea as Russian, guaranteeing its water supply, and Ukraine remaining neutral
He warned that continuing this war would bring devastating death and destruction, with countless young Ukrainians and Russians losing their lives
And look at what's happened since then
More than 2 MILLION military casualties, entire cities destroyed, millions of people forced from their homes, and the war is still going on with no lasting peace
Elon faced enormous backlash for proposing a path toward peace, but the human cost he warned about has become an absolutely horrifying reality
And that's what makes this so tragic. These are human beings with parents, families, loved ones, and entire lives ahead of them, not disposable pieces on some geopolitical chessboard
How many more young people have to die in trenches before ending this endless slaughter becomes just as important as deciding who wins the war?
Elon saw the devastating human cost of a prolonged war coming years ago, and instead of taking his warning seriously, people attacked him for even putting a peace proposal on the table
Just imagine how many lives could have been saved if a lasting peace had been reached years earlier

Η Άγκυρα δεν χρειάζεται να κερδίσει τον πόλεμο. Αρκεί να κερδίσει την εκεχειρία.
Η Ελλάδα πληρώνει 28 δισ. ευρώ για να υπερασπιστεί την ελευθερία της. Η Άγκυρα την υποχρεώνει να πληρώνει και για τα κυριαρχικά δικαιώματα που δεν τολμά να ασκήσει. Το πρώτο κόστος καταγράφεται στον προϋπολογισμό. Το δεύτερο δεν εμφανίζεται πουθενά.
Το τουρκικό casus belli για τα 12 ναυτικά μίλια, οι αμφισβητήσεις των θαλάσσιων ερευνών για το Great Sea Interconnector και η στρατιωτική κατοχή της βόρειας Κύπρου δεν είναι ανεξάρτητες διαφορές. Είναι εκφάνσεις της ίδιας στρατηγικής εξαναγκασμού. Από κατεχόμενο έδαφος κράτους-μέλους της ΕΕ, η Τουρκία μπορεί να ασκεί στρατιωτική πίεση στην Αθήνα, τη Λευκωσία και την Ιερουσαλήμ. Η Άγκυρα αποσπά παραχωρήσεις πριν πέσει η πρώτη βολή.
Η 7η Οκτωβρίου δίδαξε στο Ισραήλ ότι η στρατιωτική υπεροχή δεν διορθώνει μια λανθασμένη εκτίμηση της απειλής. Η «Ασπίδα του Αχιλλέα» ενισχύει την ικανότητα της Ελλάδας να αντισταθεί. Η «Οργή του Ποσειδώνα» προσδιορίζει τον επιδιωκόμενο στρατηγικό στόχο εάν η Τουρκία επιτεθεί στο Ισραήλ από τα κατεχόμενα: τον τερματισμό της τουρκικής στρατιωτικής κατοχής και την αποκατάσταση της αποτελεσματικής άσκησης της κυριαρχίας της Κυπριακής Δημοκρατίας, υπό την εξουσία της Λευκωσίας, με προστασία και των δύο κοινοτήτων. Ένα τέτοιο αποτέλεσμα θα αφαιρούσε από την Άγκυρα και έναν μόνιμο μοχλό πίεσης κατά της Ελλάδας.
Η κατοχή δεν μπορεί να παραμένει ένα στρατηγικό πλεονέκτημα χωρίς ανάλογο κόστος. Το τίμημα της διατήρησής της πρέπει να γίνει αισθητό στους Τούρκους φορολογουμένους, στο εκλογικό σώμα και στη στρατιωτική ηγεσία.
Η Άγκυρα μπορεί να εκμεταλλευτεί τις διαφορετικές προτεραιότητες των τριών κρατών: αποκλιμάκωση για το Ισραήλ, αυτοσυγκράτηση για την Ελλάδα, νέα αναβολή της λύσης του Κυπριακού για τη Λευκωσία. Έτσι μπορεί να χάσει στρατιωτικά και να διατηρήσει πολιτικά την κατοχή.
Η Αθήνα μπορεί να επιλέξει να μη συμμετάσχει στις πολεμικές επιχειρήσεις. Η διπλωματία της, όμως, δεν πρέπει να διασώσει αυτό που το Ισραήλ θα έχει πολεμήσει για να εξαλείψει.
Το 1974, η εκεχειρία έδωσε στην Άγκυρα τον χρόνο που χρειαζόταν για να εξαπολύσει τον «Αττίλα ΙΙ». Μια νέα εκεχειρία χωρίς δεσμευτική και επαληθεύσιμη αποχώρηση μπορεί να μετατρέψει τη στρατιωτική επιτυχία σε πολιτική ήττα. Το Άρθρο 5 του ΝΑΤΟ δεν νομιμοποιεί την κατοχή ούτε παρέχει στην Τουρκία ασυλία για επιθέσεις από τα κατεχόμενα. Η Ευρωπαϊκή Ένωση διαθέτει πραγματικούς μοχλούς πίεσης: την πρόσβαση στα ευρωπαϊκά αμυντικά προγράμματα και την αναβάθμιση της τελωνειακής ένωσης. Και τα δύο πρέπει να συνδεθούν με συγκεκριμένα, επαληθεύσιμα βήματα προς τον τερματισμό της κατοχής.
Η Αθήνα, η Λευκωσία και η Ιερουσαλήμ οφείλουν να συμφωνήσουν πριν από την κρίση τι θα υπερασπιστούν, ποιον τελικό στρατηγικό στόχο θα επιδιώξουν και τι δεν θα επιτρέψουν να παγιωθεί μέσω μιας εκεχειρίας. Δεν μπορούν να αφήσουν την Άγκυρα να καθορίσει αυτούς τους όρους εν μέσω πολέμου.
Ο πιο ακριβός πόλεμος είναι εκείνος για τον οποίο αρνείσαι να προετοιμαστείς. Ο πιο τραγικός είναι εκείνος για τον οποίο προετοιμάζεσαι, τον πολεμάς και, στο τέλος, επιτρέπεις στον αντίπαλό σου να τον καταστήσει ξανά αναπόφευκτο.

Thousands gathered today at St. George’s Greek Orthodox Church in Hamoud, Karak, to mourn, pray, and bid farewell to the Christian martyrs of Jordan’s church attack. Families and mourners joined the funeral procession in grief and solidarity.
The nine martyrs were killed after gunmen opened fire on mourners attending a funeral at the church on Friday, October 23. They had gathered to say goodbye to a loved one, never imagining their own families would soon be mourning them.
Lord, grant our martyrs eternal rest in Your presence. Comfort their families, heal the injured, and strengthen all those carrying the pain of this tragedy. May Your peace surround the people of Jordan, and may the memory of these beloved souls remain eternal. 🇯🇴✝️🙏
