Elon Musk hilariously explains why Optimus has to learn like a toddler, by playing, making mistakes and getting better over time 😂
“In order for Optimus to get the training data we need, we actually need to make a lot of Optimi. So we need to make, I think, on the order of 10,000 or 20,000 bots and then have them do self-play. We're building up an Optimus academy where Optimus can practice doing a very wide range of tasks
And then we can use that data in a flywheel to make it better and better at these various tasks, a big difference with Optimus versus the cars
Is we don't have this vast fleet of cars from which we can gather training data. So with Optimus, we have to bootstrap it by making the robots and having them do self-play, which is really how a human learns to navigate the world
You can see this when you have a toddler and they grow up and they initially are wobbly and they don't know how to do things, and eventually they, they learn to wipe their own ass, which is a big milestone, because anyone who's had kids knows
And then they learn to read and do all sorts of things and be able to do these things. And they learn this by playing
And we actually need Optimus to play at scale in order to have it be really good at tasks in the real world”
Over 3.3 million driverless miles. Zero people injured
Tesla just launched its official Robotaxi safety page, tracking every collision it reports to NHTSA, with no safety monitor on board:
0 people injured
0 airbag deployments
0 pedestrians or cyclists hit
Human drivers over the same miles would have caused about 9.1 injury collisions, 4.1 with airbag deployments and 0.52 involving pedestrians or cyclists
Autonomy is already safer than humans

Elon Musk on Tesla's Robotaxi miles exploding week over week and the Austin Cybercab fleet growing 10x in just one month
"Using Robotaxi, we're seeing the fully autonomous miles driven scale exponentially, meaning scaling very rapidly, and it would be hard to overstate this point, it really is an extremely fast week-over-week growth in autonomous miles. And I don't think there's any company in the world that can match our scale with autonomous vehicles as we continue to ramp. The Cybercab fleet in Austin, for example, has grown by a factor of 10 since launch about a month ago
And the cumulative mileage is really, when I look at the weekly chart, it's wow. It looks like a rocket going to orbit basically, it's growing very fast. And I recommend if you want to try it out, come into Austin and you'll see Cybercabs in use at scale in Austin, as I think a lot of people saw with the Austin City Limits concert recently
So this is really going to a very good place”
FSD adoption is exploding
Over 75% of new Teslas delivered in North America now come with FSD (Supervised), up nearly 20 percentage points in just one quarter
• 1.74M active FSD subscriptions, up 67% year over year
• Record net new subscriptions
• 4 new EU approvals: Croatia, Slovenia, Czech Republic and Slovakia
• FSD now live in 9 EU countries, used by 100,000+ customers who've driven 160M+ km
And Robotaxi is going vertical
Cybercab started giving rides in Austin on September 3, and cumulative unsupervised Robotaxi miles grew 8x in a single quarter to nearly 2 million, with sustained double-digit weekly growth
Austin Robotaxi now runs 6am to midnight, and Grok rides along in Cybercab with Grok Bot handling your inbox, calendar and tasks by voice
Absolutely insane pace

Elon Musk just shared an incredible update on Terafab, and the scale of what he's building is almost impossible to comprehend
The Austin research fab is progressing quickly, with the first test chip targeted for May–June 2027 and useful chips at volume around Q3 2028
“Terafab I think will be the most valuable building in the world”
“It will probably have an economic value that would place it in the top 20 of countries”
And this is especially important for scaling Optimus, removing major semiconductor bottlenecks across memory, logic and packaging
Elon Musk on Optimus becoming the biggest product on Earth, reaching outside companies around the end of next year, and Tesla having no one even close in general-purpose humanoid robotics
“I remain convinced that Optimus will be the biggest product on Earth”
Tesla is targeting deliveries to companies outside Tesla around the end of next year, once the SI, reliability and useful-life issues are solved
“There is no one that is even close to Tesla with respect to a general purpose humanoid robot”

Honestly, it’s pretty crazy how many people think they’re intelligent just because they can sit on some dumb podcast and mock a man who’s actually building the future… only to expose their own room-temperature IQ the moment they try to make an argument
“He’s just a lucky billionaire”
Lucky?
Lucky once: PayPal
Lucky twice: Tesla making EVs mainstream when the entire auto industry doubted it could be done
Lucky three times: Building orbital rockets with boosters that literally fly back and land
Lucky four times: Starlink bringing internet to places that never had it
Lucky five times: Neuralink letting people with paralysis control computers using nothing but their thoughts
At some point, it stops being luck and starts being the work you’re too lazy to see or understand
Most of the people attacking Elon have never shipped a product, never made a payroll, never bet everything they own on an idea the whole world laughed at
You have to be a special kind of stupid to have never built a damn thing yourself and still think you’re smarter than the man who’s actually building the future
Elon did exactly that in 2008 and almost lost everything trying to keep Tesla and SpaceX alive
And in 50 years, nobody will remember the takes
Everyone will remember the rockets
President Trump just gave Elon Musk an incredibly powerful acknowledgment for saving lives during Hurricane Helene
“Elon saved a lot of lives. You all did. You saved a lot of lives”
Entire communities in North Carolina were cut off, power lines were destroyed, and people were left without communication during the devastating hurricane
Trump called Elon and explained how desperate the situation was and asked for as much Starlink equipment as possible, and within just five hours, an enormous amount of equipment was made available to help reconnect affected communities
people were stranded with no way to communicate, Elon stepped in with Starlink helped restore a critical lifeline
He's not just building technology that's changing the world. He's building technology that's SAVING LIVES when people need it most
Funny how some people can spend years attacking Elon Musk, but the moment he starts fighting back, they suddenly start crying and playing the victim card
They want the freedom to attack him, but can't handle getting a taste of their own medicine
Elon Musk exposes just how incredibly powerful legacy media propaganda really is, and how easily they manipulate what millions of people believe
Remember the time Elon made a gesture that was meant to express love was deliberately turned into accusations of being a Nazi, amplified repeatedly across major media publications and television shows to paint him as evil in the eyes of millions?
“Unfortunately, what I’ve learned is that legacy media propaganda is very effective at making people believe things that aren’t true”
Think about how dangerous that is
Margaret Thatcher explained this perfectly back in 1983
The government doesn't have money of its own. Every time politicians promise to spend more, someone has to pay for it
And people somehow still think it's someone else's money
“There is no such thing as public money. There is only taxpayers’ money”
And sooner or later, that someone else they expect to pay is YOU
Trust in legacy media hit an all-time low
In 2007, 47% of Americans trusted the mass media. By 2025, just 28% did, the lowest Gallup has ever recorded
People stopped trusting legacy media
do this with Gboard too 😂
Just add “Grok Bot” to your personal dictionary with “crockpot” as the shortcut
