Looks like I'm going to commit to being my own reader for the audible of my upcoming book. Looks like 120 hours of work I've never done. Might be harder than writing the damn thing.
Wish me luck.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. My father needs help rebuilding his life after a devastating accident.

Quarterback drops are much more than simply moving backward after the snap. From a coaching perspective, every drop is tied directly to route timing, protection, and offensive rhythm
A quarterback’s footwork must stay synchronized with the concept so they arrive at the top of the drop balanced, under control, and ready to deliver the football on time
• 3-Step Drop:
Built for the quick game and requires efficient footwork, rapid processing, anticipation, and immediate ball placement
• 5-Step Drop:
The foundation of the intermediate passing game, demanding proper rhythm, pocket awareness, eye discipline, and the ability to progress through reads while maintaining a consistent throwing platform
• 7-Step Drop:
Designed for vertical concepts and explosive plays, testing a quarterback’s patience, pocket command, downfield vision, and ability to stay mechanically sound as routes develop
From a scouting perspective, the evaluation goes far beyond the drop itself
Scouts are looking for quarterbacks who consistently maintain balance, posture, base width, and eye discipline throughout the drop while keeping their mechanics intact under pressure
Key evaluation points include:
• Balance and body control
• Timing and rhythm
• Pocket awareness
• Eyes downfield through the drop
• Consistent throwing mechanics
• Ability to throw on time and in structure
The best quarterbacks understand that footwork drives timing, timing drives accuracy, and accuracy drives offensive success. Every drop should be deliberate, controlled, and connected to the route concept

Falling down from stardom young prepared me for the fickleness of the world. 1 day I’m suppose to be a draft pick tear acl then I’m udfa, chance to start NFL tear acl again cut, they loved me so much then left me alone in that hospital. Taught me to rely on God & trust his plan!

110% - Same thing happened to me throughout my career… my teammates that spent all summer running 110’s and 300 yard shuttles to “get ready” for conditioning test and camp. I did the opposite. Nothing less than max speed effort - with absolutely minimal “running”.
Guess who was ready for actual football?
The goal isn’t to go longer than everyone else and not “get tired”.
The goal is to be faster, absorb force and create force better and longer than everyone else. You don’t absorb or create enough force during by conditioning.
I can also claim that never once in my career - college or NFL - did I experience a cramp in game or practice - and It had little to do with hydration - because my nervous system was prepared for what I was asking it to do. Force absorption is the name of the game.…
We’ve seen the same thing with our High School kids. Once we changed the way we train and got rid of the nonsensical conditioning, we are faster and in far superior condition. We have almost zero soft tissue sprains or tweaks. In fact, the only kids who do have some sort of issue are the ones who didn’t show up to train consistently or had their own “private” trainer that overworked them.
In my short time working with High School kids - I have learned a fast lesson that “Burning the Steak” is a real thing with conditioning / sub maximal work being one of the primary offenders..
From early morning workouts, school, and all the other things in their schedule they do not recover enough to be at the best.
Final note… Nothing sucks the life out of a performance based culture than mind numbing conditioning….
Keep up the good work Tony!

What young athletes think makes them fast:
- Squatting 600lbs
- Fancy ladder drills
- “Grinding,” to exhaustion
- Building fast feet
What ACTUALLY makes young athletes fast:
- Sprinting at max effort 2-3x per week
- Sprinting at max effort 2-3x per week with varying loads

Continue to be amazed how Performance experts continue to use 20th century methods to try to solve 21st century problems. Wake up the games have changed, they are faster & more intense. The solution is not to lift more or run more. Solution is to better understand sport demands.
