When are parents and players going to wake up to the JUCO option as USUALLY THE BEST college baseball option out of HS? It’s usually the golden path overlooked….
Junior College Baseball (in general) @jucoroute is an absolute amazing route to all future levels of college baseball. Even D1 and possibly the MLB draft. Why so many look down on this option is beyond me. Stop!! 🛑.. It’s time to WAKE UP!!!
See JUCO as the green light not a red light or caution light. Be proud of playing JUCO Baseball and one day you will tell others what a great opportunity it afforded you to grow up, get tougher, better odds of playing time, and to be ready for anything life can throw at you. To wear the proud badge of a JUCO BANDIT!!
But you better love playing baseball. JUCO is usually no frills. Baseball at its purest. For the love of the game. Survival of the fittest and mentally toughest.
I played JUCO (Junior College =‘s Frosh and Soph years) baseball in Florida before going D1 and so did my son 30 years later. Taber would tell you his FLA JUCO could beat over 50% of the teams he played at the D1 level.
*** Parents and players, quit sticking your nose up at this amazing opportunity. ***
And don’t think “If all else fails, I’ll just do JUCO.” You will be shocked how competitive those roster spots are.
BUT… if you are willing to go bet on yourself and grind it out, you will likely find yourself on a junior college roster somewhere. Even if you have to redshirt year 1. Keep grinding. You would be so surprised how ready you will be to one day to step on a field at the D1 level, D2, D3 or NAIA and thrive!!!!!

Development @ the high school level has never been more important.
The game is evolving!
That dude that just stole home! Armani Guzman...
That's the same kid who hit .053 his freshman year and was a role player. A Swiss Army knife for his club.
He always had the speed tool. Freshman year they used him mainly as a pinch runner. 1 for 19 at the dish. Most guys would have transferred or quit. He went to a summer league, made adjustments, only hit .248, but came back more prepared.
2025, back on the bench again. Hadn't started in 30 days. Coach noticed two pinch-hit singles in a blowout loss and put him back in the lineup.
He didn't try to do too much, he just contributed. Trust was being built.
About a year ago in the regionals, he hit a walk-off sacrifice fly. Then 4-for-5 with the go-ahead RBI in the 8th. The 2025 Regional MVP batted 9th.
His coach said it best.
"His mentality has been so spot on. You want to talk about a confident guy that's not arrogant. He is in such a strong place competing right now that he knows he'll have success." Coach Sabins, 2025
He wasn't confident because things were going well. Things were going well because he stayed confident!
By 2026 he's breaking the all-time stolen base record at WVU, delivering walk-off hits, and helping send West Virginia to Omaha for the first time in program history.
As a former D1 coach and 7th rounder, I love this story because it's real. The work wins. The best players fail the most, they just refuse to let it stop them.
In a world that wants everything now, let's play the long game.
Belief comes before ability. Always has. Let's let the next wave of athletes embrace this mentality, stay consistent, and stay persistent.
I went down a rabbit hole on Guzman because I saw it wasn't always easy and smooth sailing for him, as that's how most athletes on TV appear. Adversity will always show up. It's how we keep that belief and keep improving. Kudos to Guzman and WVU, fun to follow as a baseball fan.
I pulled much of this information from WVU sports, domainpost and 247sports.

A deeply personal tribute to the 2026 UCLA baseball team…

Awesome!!! @WCALSports @AMHSAthletics Never gets old
Final: Mitty 5, Palma 2
After finishing seventh in the @WCALSports, @AMHSAthletics rolls to the @cifccs Division II title.
@felixchang2026 went 3-for-3 with a triple and a homer and dazzled in the field. @AndreLopez2026 closed it out, retiring all three after inheriting a jam.
Hmmm aaa
Crazy what is happening in high school sports now a days.
Question, if you’re already committed to LSU, why do you need to go to another showcase??? You’ve already got your offer and shown your value. Draft, go shove in the championship in a game setting.
Smells to me like a lot of parents that never played getting led around by people they trust but sucking $$$ out of them.
This is soooo not good…and bizarre
BREAKING: The Ganesha baseball team is expected to have several players missing for Saturday's game against Loyola for the CIF-SS Division 2 championship at LoanMart Field in Rancho Cucamonga, including star pitcher Logan Schmidt, an LSU commit who is expected to be a MLB first round draft pick, sources are telling me on the condition of anonymity.
Nearly the entire starting lineup will be at an out-of-state BPA (Baseball Performance Academy) camp that was previously scheduled, I am told.
Nearly all of Ganesha's baseball players are part of Ganesha's online line program, and also part of the BPA Academy.
Ganesha athletic director Don Cayer would not comment, other than to say they're scheduled to play on Saturday.
Ganesha coach Jared Sadler has not returned calls or text messages ....
Ganesha is expected to field a team for Saturday's championship against Loyola, but nearly all of the top players will be missing, I'm told.
Ganesha asked the CIF-SS if they could play on Friday, but was denied.
This is fluid. More to come.
