GOOD MORNING If you missed Kingston Flemings getting drafted by Atlanta (& his zing of the hometown Spurs) watch my clips! In retweet below see my interview when he was at San Antonio Brennan. He'll be the 1st player in NBA history last named Flemings (5 had last name Fleming
He's a man in that he eats cereal without milk (Chuck Norris always needed milk).
FYI there was no other local coverage in San Antonio. Spurs drafted someone at 20 but he has no ties to SA. Should they have traded up to get Flemings? Recent history (Texas A&M VB, Texas SB, Oklahoma BSB, Knicks BB, etc.) says if you want to win a title you need at least 1 San Antonio area native on your roster. Remember the New York Knicks had 2 San Antonio area natives on their title roster while the Spurs had 0.

If you're wondering if Kingston Flemings will end up in San Antonio, they draft 29 so they'd have to do a trade of some kind to get him. Houston & New Orleans dont have 1st round picks but Dallas picks 10 & Oklahoma City 12 which is in the 4 - 14 range of where he'll go.

I watched AAU basketball all weekend.
I left with bad news for most players:
Too many are building highlight reels before they’re building winning habits.
The game ends. They lose. And before they’ve watched film or owned what needs to change…
The post is already up.
The highlight clip.
The posed photo.
Everyone wants exposure.
But exposure doesn’t fix bad shot selection.
It doesn’t make you defend.
It doesn’t teach you how to impact winning.
The camera should document the work.
It shouldn’t become the reason for the work.

University of Houston coach Kelvin Sampson on Kingston Flemings' performance at NBA Draft Combine, his shooting success and the somewhat absurd wingspan questions that came up: "You tell him he can't do something, he's going to show you. . . As soon as it becomes a competition, he's going to make it." On small wingspan talk: "What's that got to do with anything? What would you rather have a guy go 19 for 25 (shooting threes) or have two inches on his wingspan?"
Sampson reminds that Kevin Durant could only bench press 135 pounds one time at his NBA Draft Combine testing back when Durant came out of Texas. "What are we talking about?" Sampson says.
0f course, this being Kelvin Sampson he also works in a story about Coach Dan Monson, crediting him for a shooting drill that Sampson's teams still use today.
