The best coaches don’t just study the game. They study other ways to see the game. That’s what Joe Mazzulla did this summer. Instead of staying comfortable, he went to France, not for vacation, but to learn. He spent time with Le Mans head coach Guillaume Vizade to exchange ideas about basketball philosophy spacing, ball movement, and how to teach offense. And months later… it showed up. Not as a copied system. But as a refined one. More flow. More movement. More intentionality. Here’s what most people miss: Growth doesn’t come from doing more of the same. It comes from seeing the same thing differently. Mazzulla didn’t go to France to find answers. He went to ask better questions. The best leaders don’t just gather information, they translate it into something that fits their people. Where are you still operating from comfort instead of curiosity?
