Love this set, especially in the college game, because it checks every box as far as what you want to eliminate when trying to get a guard downhill.

Kevin Garnett tells Tony Allen and Zach Randolph that a single open run he had with a group of NBA players including Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen made him realize he wasn't going to college and would instead enter the NBA straight from high school. He noted that making just one bucket during that run changed everything for him.

Not one Division I program offered Javonte Green a basketball scholarship.
The only scholarship anybody ever put in front of him was to play quarterback.
Tonight, at 33 years old, he made five threes on opening night and Detroit came back from 22 down to beat Boston.
Here is the whole thing.
He moved in with his aunt and uncle when he was twelve, and went across the state of Virginia to a high school in a town called Lawrenceville.
He played there with a fracture in his back.
They managed it two weeks on and two weeks off. Before his senior year his doctors and his coach told him to shut it down and do physical therapy instead.
He played all three seasons.
Here is how he described it.
"Every time I did something, my back used to tighten up."
He never played AAU. Nobody was watching him. In the fall he played quarterback, and he was good enough at it that James Madison offered him a scholarship to come and do that.
In the sport he actually wanted, he had nothing.
His high school coach was Bryant Stith, who had played in the NBA himself. Here is how Stith remembers the kid in the middle of that.
"He was confused because so many people were pulling him in so many different directions."
So Stith told him this.
"Whatever you decide to do, you're going to be successful."
Then he did something about it. He sent Green's highlight tape out to college programs himself, and he put a handwritten note in with it.
Radford got one of them. The head coach there said later it was the note that got Green onto the list at all.
He committed to Radford on the last possible day he could still make it to campus.
CelticsBlog is where that whole chain is written down, from the back to the tape to the note.
Nobody drafted him. He spent four years overseas, in Spain and Italy and Germany, before anybody in this league would look at him. He made his NBA debut at twenty six years old.
Then after two seasons in Boston and two in Chicago, he was sent back down to the G League at thirty. He had already played two hundred games in the NBA by then.
He worked his way back up again.
Now go back to tonight.
Boston led by 22 points. Green went five for eight from behind the line, scored 19.
The only scholarship anyone ever offered him was in a different sport.
A high school coach wrote a note out by hand and put it in an envelope with a tape.
And eleven years after nobody drafted him, he was the best plus minus on the floor on opening night.
