I'm profoundly disappointed in Prime Minister @MarkJCarney that he has chosen to tolerate and even dismiss the United States' Ambassador @petehoekstra's constant lying about Canada interfering in the United States mid-term elections.
It eludes me why Carney has not taken any measures to protect Canadian dignity and sovereignty and deemed Hoekstra persona non grata pursuant to Article 9 of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations.
In Carney's Canada, it's acceptable, it seems, for diplomats to lie about Canada. Blatant disrespect of Canada and Canadians, it seems, is OK with Carney.
There is an e-petition available to Canadians, E-7531, callling for the Government of Canada to formally declare Pete Hoekstra persona non grata and request his removal as U.S. Ambassador to Canada. It's sponsored by @ElizabethMay.
Given Prime Minister @MarkJCarney hasn't the personal courage to demand the United States and its diplomatic mission afford Canada and Canadians fundamental respect. Perhaps Canadians by signing the petition can demand that Carney stand up for Canadians rather than groveling.
