AI alone is slop. Humans alone are dumb (relatively). Humans + AI = masters of the universe.
For now …
What if we gave patients the ability to make informed decisions about their healthcare?
Freaking radical.
Let’s assume fraud has pretty much remained constant. If that’s the case, increase in overall costs of healthcare is providers getting better at playing the game. Then insurers will also get better. Rinse and repeat.
The system is the problem, not the rational actors.
I feel for health system CIO / CTO getting pushed to adopt AI. Lots of theoretical ROI out there akin to the “digital health boom” a few years ago.
When will insurers start paying for virtual agent-only visits? Free max subscription to your favorite LLM might be the highest ROI investment they can make.
A lot of labs still live in PDF and XML; healthcare loves lots of different formats. If that import path is second-class, a lot of people never get a usable chart in there no matter how the EHR pipe is built.
Trying out @ChatGPT Health. My health provider network is not on the platform, and I don’t see a way to just import my health records manually. Am I missing something?
Just because we have smarter tools doesn't mean we should stop thinking about how we get clinicians to use them; accuracy isn't enough.
An LLM in a live ED (nature.com/articles/s41591-0…; @Nature), sitting on the chart to help physicians work through clinical decisions had 99 of 100 sampled outputs rated clinically appropriate and the team still stopped opening it later in the shift.
Use went from 68% to 30% as the shift got long, and the authors recommended it NOT be deployed.
This is the best time to be a product designer / product manager / engineer … cause they are all the same job
Jayden Daniels won’t like it when he hears Lou Bega for the first time
@barstoolsports
There is a pandemic of older adults who refuse to use headphones despite clear hearing loss. The living room is not the cinema.
This is the way and one of the most exciting ways of looking at the future of AI. I definitely feel it every day
Insurance only for catastrophic care, cash pay for everything else, HSA plans for everyone. - there fixed it.
